Martim_Iglesias
Mt. Kenya

Hey guys! Just finished a 5k run and beat my pb with 24:06, but when i posted the run, it marked only 4,97km, so it does not count to my PB, eventhough when I stopped the run it said 5km. Does anyone know how can i fix that? or at least for the future?

Ps: my phone is a xiaomi redmi note 10 5g

Hey @Martim_Iglesias
In some situations you can change the distance that is shown for your activity. Changing the distance stream may also update the pace or duration of an activity. If your device created a distance stream using sensors such as a speed sensor, pedometer, or accelerometer, you can switch your distance on Strava to use GPS data rather than the generated distance stream.

To swap your distance stream:

  • Go to your activity page on the website (this feature is currently not accessible in our mobile apps)
  • From the activity page click on (◦◦◦) the more options menu > Correct Distance.
  • From the pop-up, click "Correct Distance".
  • When the status changes from "Calculating" to "Updated," refresh the page.

  • If the “Correct Distance” option is missing, it means that Strava is calculating the distance based on the available GPS data.
  • From the pop-up, if you click “Correct Distance”, the activity distance will then be calculated by Strava using the available GPS data
  • When the status changes from “Calculating” to “Updated,” refresh the page.

Change your mind? That’s OK! Simply follow the directions above again and select ‘Revert Distance’ and the original stats will be reinstated.

A lot of devices will round the distance to some degree.  When you are trying to accomplish a certain benchmark distance, like a 5k or 10k, you need to make sure to go beyond that distance to ensure you actually get credit for it.  When I am trying to get "credit" for a 5k, I will generally make sure I go at least 5.1k but often even further just to be sure.  While you device may have said 5k, it is probably rounding up from 4.97k since it probably does not display the distance covered to that many decimal places.  As far as I know, there isn't a way to "fix" it other than deleting that file and replacing it with a manual entry that you enter as a full 5k and the time you completed it in.

Thanks! Manual entry is a good idea actually! However, it did show the 2 decimal places so i dont know what happened there. I´ll make sure to run the extra meters just in case from now on. Appreciate your feedback!!
