Edit: Thanks to a comment from @CreakyCrank I edited my initial suggestion.

Based on the Athlete-to-Athlete Direct Communication idea from @SteveWayne i think it would be great if you are able to arrange training sessions with other STRAVA athlets via DM, which could then be saved in your own training calendar. Maybe an export/sync function via ICS/iCal/CSV would be conceivable?

Initial post:
Don't you think it would a great feature to send STRAVA internal direct messages (DM) to the members you follow (and they follow you)? I think this would be a great idea to get in contact with followers just to ask a quick quesion like "which tyre pressure are you running?" Without expose everything in the comments section.
In addition, i think it would be great if you could arrange training sessions with other STRAVA athlets via DM, which could then be saved in your own training calendar. Maybe an export/sync function via ICS/iCal/CSV would be conceivable?

I think this is a duplicate of the "Athlete-to-Athlete" suggestion, perhaps 'kudo' that one (and add comments there)... I'd hate to "split the vote" on what is a great feature by having two similar suggestions.

@CreakyCrankI see what you mean. Maybe I should edit my suggestion. I should mention the Athlete-to-Athlete Direct Communication and only suggest the calendar/appointment idea based on this...

Thanks for your comment.

I already kudoed the Athlete-to-Athlete Direct Communication suggestion 😉

Thanks for the suggestion @cy-linder and thanks for chiming in @CreakyCrank ! Uli, may I suggest you edit the title of your suggestion to better reflect your idea? Something like "Ability to plan training sessions/group activities with other athletes". Thank you for your contributions.

I like the calendar/appointment angle of this!

Hi everyone, for many years I have used Training Peaks at cost and never paid for strava as the features dont really add anything for me. What I find is a glaring omission on strava's behalf is why not allow the training calendar to be used for planning ahead. It doesn't have to be anything complex, just plan a set of runs ahead in the calender so for example next week you plan a set of runs.

1. Give them a name such as easy, intervals, race, etc

2. Input the target (eg time, distance, pace, etc)

3. A weekly summary that shows the planned time, distance, etc for that week and maybe a rolling total of planned vs completed as the week progressed?

Does anyone else feel like this one feature is a big omission. It would have me on strava pro overnight.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom,

I agree with you. There is something like that missing in the STRAVA training calendar. I pay for STRAVA but i realized that there is no possibility to add my own traning plan. You can only use the plans that are included in STRAVA Pro.

I wanted to raise this topic here also but you were first 🙂

Thank you!

Cheers

Uli

Hi Tom,

Thanks for posting about this.  We actually had a very similar topic posted on our Ideas Board here.  I've merged your post with that one so the discussion can continue in one place.  This helps us keep the ideas organized and makes sure suggestions are easy to find and votes for them aren’t divided across duplicate ideas. Don’t forget to show your support by clicking on the kudos button.

Thanks again!

When we use Strava, we upload an activity or we participate in a challenge. But it would be cool to have a function with which we can "announce" a planned trip in the start feed, so to speak, where friends, colleagues or strangers can then take part (either publicly or privately). In the "announcement" there should be data such as place, date and type of sport... We use Strava as a social network to share and connect with our common passion for sports. Then why shouldn't we make new contacts or organize fun group trips.

I am a ride-organizer by nature.  I am always texting all my riding buddies with a route and time.  Then everyone responds with "I'm in", a reason they can't ride, or just don't answer.

Others do the same thing.

It would be awesome if Strava had a "Meet-up" post option that could be sent to followers with an opt-out button for those that are out of town, don't want to be bothered, etc...

Then I could just send my route, day, and time.
