Hi,

What do you guys think about introducing a second point system to stay motivated for Zone 2/endurance training?
It would be great to have a second scale for endurance points alongside the fitness points.

During periods of endurance training, the fitness points start to drop. However, if I could see an increase in my endurance on the second system, that would be reassuring for me

cheers

I think it's a great idea. I'm focused on trail ultramarathons and the "fitness" indicator means litle to me now. When I began 10 years ago I could barely run 5k but my "fitness indicator" sky rocketed. Now I'm able to complete 100 milers and 300km races and it barely goes above 20, or 30. Even in very high volume weeks the thing simply wont go up. Considering that elite athletes train mostly on Z2, I think that this "fitness" score is kind of broken anyway. An athlete that consistently does 100 mile weeks on Z2 will endup having a lower fitness score than one who does a couple of 8x200m workouts and shorter hard runs on a total of 40-50k per week. But you can bet the dude running 100 mile weeks will be faster. Volume is king for distances of half marathon and beyond.
