There doesn't appear to be any way of changing the location of an activity, which appears above the activity title on the Strava activity page.   For example:  "Monday, March 27th, Brooklyn, NY"

in order to make it more accurate for the user. For example, where I live is in the West of Ireland, the only data that appears to be available to Strava from OSM is the local government administration district, not the town or location that I run in. In my case, that is an area of over 2,000 square kilometres. This is so frustrating. It's the same all over the country, no matter where I run or race.

It would be a great idea for the user to have the ability to change the location to something more accurate and meaningful. As there are other parameters of an activity that can be adjusted or changed, I don't see why that can't be added to the list.

Hi @jamesmurtagh

Thanks for posting about this.  I'm wondering if you are asking about an activity or a route?  If you are trying to edit the start point of one of your uploaded activities, this is possible as long as the activity is GPS based.  To do that you would use the crop tool.

You mention OSM however, which makes we think you might be talking about using our suggested routes feature on the Strava Mobile App.  If that's the case, it is possible to select a different start point other than the default.

To do this:

  1. Open the Mobile App select Maps>Routes
  2. The suggested routes will default to your location
  3. Look for the "Search Maps" box that appears to the left of the settings menu icon
  4. Type in the location where you want your route to start

You will then see suggested routes from your selected location.  You'll see in the example below, although I am located in the U.S.A. I can use the App to suggest running routes in Galway, Ireland.

I hope this is helpful!

@Jane I reckon he means the location name of the starting point:

Hi Jane

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, you’ve misunderstood my dilemma. Jan Mantau has hit the nail on the head. I’ve attached a screenshot of yesterdays run. You can clearly see I started and finished in Westport town. However, the location is shown as Westport-Belmullet Municipal District. This is an a local government administrative area, of no interest to the public at large, only government officials. I’d like to have the option of changing the location to something more accurate and meaningful.

Thank you again.
James

Thanks @jamesmurtagh and @Jan_Mantau for clarifying this.

The idea has been reviewed by our moderation team and is now open to voting.  Thanks again for the idea!  We have slightly modified the wording to make it clearer to understand and to make it easier for others to search and vote for.

Yes please! I wish there was such an option! I would use it on nearly every activity. Just allowing the user to say move the pin allng your ride/run to where the location chosen would be. That way it would avoid showing the tiny spot that the user started from, but where they actually rode/ran/swam!
