I would love to be able to have different shoes set as my default for walking vs. running, as well as a different default bike for road vs. MTB.  I often forget to change which shoes/bike I did what on, then that messes up my milage tracking (for when to change shoes or tires/tyres).

Moderator's Edit: we are excited to announce that we launched default gear by sport on May 9, 2023. Now, you can set default shoes and bikes for different foot and cycle activities! We appreciate any and all feedback on this feature so feel free to continue to leave comments in this thread. However, if you have additional suggestions we invite you to submit a new idea. For more info on how to do this, please click here

I like how Strava automatically knows my ride or run type because I have my Garmin profiles configured for each type (road, gravel, MTB, trail). It would be cool if I could also select default gear for each activity type. So when it knows I went for a MTB ride, it selects my MTB without me needing to change it afterwards. Or when I go for a trail run, it selects my trail running shoes ✌️

I have currently a road and a gravel bike. On my garmin I have a road and a gravel activity profile.
After syncing my ride, the correct activity type is set to my ride, but my bike is always set as my road bike, even if I just did a gravel ride, even though the bike types are set correctly in my gear settings.

The same should be for shoes when running, hiking, walking. To be able to set a default run, walk, and hike shoe, so not always the default run shoe is tagged after an activity is synced/tracked.

I would love this as well. When I do a virtual ride in Zwift, it automatically adds my winter fat bike now, which is the default I have set for the season. I’d love to be able to set one bike for road bike and a different one for mountain biking, since those are now two different categories of Strava ride), and have neither of those show up for a virtual ride.

It's so annoying manually editing every walk to remove my running shoes.

Came to this forum just to request this! Personally, now that Trail Running is an activity type in itself it would be super useful to be able to select default running shoes and default trail running shoes. I find myself having to edit shoes 50% of the times.

I wanted to make the same suggestion as VictorGarcia. Different defaults for running, trail running and hiking/walking.

This is a no brainer and cannot be very difficult to implement.  I always forget to update my activities and now my runners (default) have way more kilometers on them than they should as I do a lot of hiking and walking in different shoes!

Yes, my running shoes are way over as I don't change the default over each time I record a walk.

Yes please!

Currently Strava allows to set only one bike as a default bike. In my opinion it would be useful to have a default bike for gravel, road, mountain bike and trainer (virtual) rides. Strava already recognizes all these ride types. Since I use a different bike for road, gravel and mountain biking it would be useful to have this option.

Hey guys,

I would like to be able to define the bike i am using for zwift as the bike for virtual rides. Then of course also define my outdoor bike for the real world rides. So i do not have to manually switch the bike in the activity every time and i can better track the distance actually covered

Best Regards!

I agree, this feature would definitely help. I posted about this a few days ago, to have different default bikes for gravel, road, mountain and virtual rides. I use a different bike for each of those.

Yes Yes Yes please! I have two different bikes and 2 sets of shoes based on what activity I am doing. Having to remember to edit every time is tedious. Also, I know I don't always remember, so when tracking mileage to know when to change shoes, it could be way off. This is definitely a needed enhancement.

100%! It's annoying Strava can't work out that when I do a virtual ride I use my virtual indoor trainer

@Soren This has been gathering kudos for 9 months and is the 5th most requested feature. Any update?
