Similar to an App called MillageIQ and others like it that track Millage for taxes/reimbursement the apps constantly with permission monitor the GPS of your phone to check for movement and record millage, after it senses trips you can categorize and delete if you don't want to keep, strava could do this for rides and stop and discard as soon as it senses a ride that could not possibly be on a bike (whatever would be the max speed of a bike, or even allow the user to set max). You could possibly code to determine if it is a ride or a run, but I think it would be easy enough to have the users that opt in (I think there is an extra step to have an app use location all the time) to set the default and then allow them to change if needed or discard if it was a short trip to post office in car where speed was not outside of range. This would solve my issue and I'm sure many others of lots of rides that don't get recorded because I forget to record.

Hello. We wanted to let you know that your idea submission from Aug. 2022 regarding Automatically Start Recording has received little support from the Community and will not be added to our Product Roadmap in the foreseeable future.  The idea submission will be archived.

Please note that your feedback is valuable to Strava. As stated in our Community Idea Guidelines, we receive many idea submissions each week, and realistically, there may be various reasons that prevent us from including an idea on our Product Roadmap.

We want to thank you for taking the time to submit your idea and we look forward to your continued contributions to the Strava Community.

Cheers,
Scout (she/her)

I'd back this idea, but it looks like kudos do not get registered. I'm also wondering, what number of kudos would be sufficient to revert to the topic and put the customers' on the product development backlog?

Me too this sounds great. I can’t give kudos
