Dark Mode !!

It's 2022 and most apps have Dark Mode nowadays. It might be a bit weird to use Strava when not working out... But looking at the segments the night before to plan out the next run is a thing. Please make us literally lose less sleep when doing this, or when recording an activity in the evening.

This has consistently been the top request on reddit.com/r/strava

If you are going to raise the subscription fee, maybe you should prioritize what people want. Seriously, how hard is it to create a new theme file?

@stevencrader Terribly hard, Strava team is not good enough to pull off such an operation. They need to hire some senior dark mode specialists first and build new dark mode team, then years of development.... this is why it takes so long 😄

Surely this feature can't be such a huge undertaking that ignoring the community or telling a large majority of it that their concerns aren't important is a wise PR and business move.

Yes, dark mode would be very useful.

When you ride in the dark with the phone mounted on the handlebars as usual, the screen is blinding, and consumes a lot of battery.

I agree. Dark mode is long overdue. So much time and effort is invested in map or trail enhancements (which some of us don't even use) but I am positive the majority of the map users would also appreciate dark mode. Surely dark mode is not to much to ask?

I would love to know, what is the real reason STRAVA HQ resists so much. Perhaps they have strong feelings for white/orange branding and dark mode would brake it?

Interesting, I hadn't thought about the branding perspective! Though it could be argued that the default look will still be the usual Strava colors. Dark mode could be enabled for the entire app, or just on the recording screen. Personally I would always use dark mode during riding on the recording screen, even on sunny days, as my phone has OLED and it would save a lot of battery.

Same here, it's usefull to use dark mode on OLEDs, I do it everytime I can. It saves battery just as well as prolongs display lifetime.

Lack of dark mode in 2023 for such screen-heavy app is absurd. Shame on product programming, the fact this thread even exists is a testament for Strava product team’s ignorance and lack of community support. Under every single Strava social post eople are literally begging for this dumb, not even core feature, that doesn’t require data science or some legal and marketing implications, just pure user experience improvement. Such shame, really.
