I have been wanting this for a long time now, i wish there was a display of the elevation gained in the app in real time or at least a display of the altitude at any given moment.

It would be very appreciated when on a hike for instance as to have an idea of how much more elevation you need to gain to get to your goal or how much more climbing you have to do to complete the route you're trying to complete. At least a very simple reading of the elevation would be much appreciated.

This always miss me when I hike or bike in the mountain. It is strange that such useful information still missing when record some similar activity.

In my experience, the statistics of interest during a backcountry ski are rarely current speed and distance travelled. Much more interesting are total elevation gained and current elevation, with gain being more important usually. Heart rate -is- usually interesting. (I personally find these statements are true for much of hiking, as well, though I can see distance travelled being more interesting while hiking.)

A typical use is to look at the elevation gained and divide by the time passed to get an understanding of vertical gain per hour.  This is common in the vertical-oriented sports.  This information tells a climber what their expected arrival at the high point is, which is important for turn-around calculations, etc. I can't gain the necessary data with Strava, so I typically start Gaia on my phone which I then use to perform these calculations.

Another extremely simple feature that Strava doesn’t have. Please add this.

On the iOS app. The current positive différence of altitude should be displayed on the recording page.

I wish this worked on my Apple Watch. It is the ONE feature that has me considering moving to a Garmin.

+1 to this feature. It's annoying that I'm loosing points for elevation gains in Kokotí challenge... 😞

Same here, I would love this feature (and don't understand why it is not displayed as in ANY outdoor activity monitoring tool)

+1, I second this.  Strava is a great app but the recording screen should be customizable to show current elevation and total elevation gain during your activity.  When recording an Alpine Skiing day at a ski area, elevation gain for the day is only visible when you save the activity at the end of the day.  It would be really helpful to know how much you skied throughout the day in real-time.
