Offer a level of subscription that can work for two or more people who are part of the same family. People are unlikely to buy two subscriptions, but might purchase a slightly higher priced one if 2 or more people could use it.
We're two athletes who used to each have premium and prices have kept rising causing us to consider dropping Strava premium entirely. We used to play the gift game and eke out 14 months for our plan, but part of the problem today is subscription providers keep "adding content" and raising prices. Strava is still Strava and isn't worth more just because you add niche content. Without a family plan we'll be gone soon, not because we don't like the program but because we're just not giving you $160/year to log our routes. Sorry.
Another who would very much like to see a family option. Doubling up for two singles is a lot of money. I like the routing but don’t use it frequently enough to justify the cost
I’ve been a long time Strava customer and supporter it will be discontinuing premium membership as it just not worth it, especially since Strava owners don’t know how to offer a family plan to retain and attract more business…Strava’s loss!!
Family membership is a MUST HAVE for a subscription service. Couples ride together but want to track their stats individually and sometime plan separate routes. Paying twice, especially after the recent steep increases is just not feasible for most. Even Netflix offers plans with "multiple screens" 🙂
I would love to see this implemented. With my wife and I both getting in to running lately, we would both like to benefit from some of the subscription features in Strava - particularly the ability to compare our stats on segments. Paying for two subscriptions (which is essentially required for our use case - not to mention matrimonial fairness) is far beyond what we can justify as a family at the moment, so If you want to bring us into the fold, a reasonably priced family plan is essential.
A long time ago, Strava tried offering 3 separate feature packs for a lower price, with discounts as you added more packs. I reckon it didn’t find much success because the features were segmented in such away that many people wanted 2 packs, at which point there was little price difference compared to a full subscription. Plus, the full subscription was more affordable back then.
Things are different now. The subscription has become more expensive, and includes even more features most people don’t care about. I sure don’t want to pay $80 a year just to graph my progress on a particular route, which I could do for free if I was so inclined.
A multi-tier model may be worth revisiting now, and could help make group subscriptions more palatable.
We're a family of 6, and with the current plan, Strava is unaffordable. A family plan would be beneficial, and would lead us to take the plunge and pay a subscription.
Any updates on Strava incorporating this suggestion into its logic/solution? As a family of 4, we'd love to have our kids on Strava but it's unaffordable.
Not directly related, but subscription-value related nevertheless.
Strava should consider variable subscription fees based on region. $59.99 may not sound like much in some countries, but is definitely a big sum in others.
Take Google and Microsoft for example, their subscription services are quite successful because they have region-specific pricing, which makes more sense from a local's point of view. (they verify country by the card issuance country)
I am from Sri Lanka, and $59.99 is a lot. And so is the monthly value.
Me and my wife are paying customers for 4years, but will not renew if no family plan. The value for money In Strava always was a bit questionable, but they were the only ones that figured out userfriendly activity tracking.
Thats no longer the case. Routes, analysis etc is done for free lots of other apps that also have seamless integration and sometimes superior functionalities (not to mention the routes). Imagine the commercial havoc if Zwift would link with Garmin/Wahoo with a simple progress interface on top of it…
Not too sure if Strava would like this, but maybe Strava could also award complimentary subscriptions to users who help Strava by various means; great idea submissions, correcting segment details or similar improvements, flagging more bad rides (i.e. motorbike rides as bicycle rides), etc.
Similar to the red arrow on the profile photos when the person is a subscriber. Maybe there could be a blue arrow or such. Or maybe just red itself.
