Sometime you want to create a segment which is are a loop.
However, if you don't start this loop exactly at the same location, you won't be compared to other athletes.

It would be great if strava could detect that a segment is a loop and allow comparison between activities, whatever the starting point

This would be a welcome feature. There are lots of places (trails around lakes, for example), where there are numerous segments that follow exactly the same route, but with different start/end locations. It would be nice if there was the ability to have a single "around the loop" segment, where anyone completing the loop would be on the leaderboard regardless of where they started.

Completely agree!

There are lakes loops, airports loops, park loops... People are cycling and running few laps during a training, starting from different points.
I wanted to propose this idea and saw you, victorls also thought about it. Hope to be implemented, although the idea is only few time voted. 😞

Finger crossed.

This is an insanely good idea!

Seems like a very nice idea for running! For cycling I'm conflicted about this as the starting point of the loop can have a huge impact on the average speed.

Currently, circuits often have multiple segments where the starting point is differing. F.e. a 5KM circuit which has 5 entry points and thus 5 segments. It'd be great if these segments would be combined into a 'Circuit Segment' which shows who is the actual fastest rider on the entire circuit, regardless of the starting point.

Also, make them work in either direction. That would be great.

Strong agree! I live on a large loop segment around a nature preserve but I am on the opposite side of the start and finish line so I have to run two loops to get just one counted on the segment!
