Why aren't the segments of MTB and eMTB not the same? it's easy, just create 2 different rankings for each existing segment, one for MTB and one for eMTB. me and my friends who switched to eMTB, we realized that there are very few segments marked for eMTB, less than 10% compared to those for MTB.

All segments are created by the users for each activity type.  If you are not seeing e-mtb segments you would like to see, it is really easy to make them.  Personally, I would love to start over with a clean slate like the e-mtb category did and not end up with all of the bad and duplicate segments created in the early days of mountain biking and just the regular "ride" category.

Another reason that may contribute to why they don't just make all "ride" segments copy over from "ride" to "e-bike ride" is that e-bikes are not allowed in all the same places.  It would automatically be creating segments for a sport in many areas that it is illegal to do that sport which would convey a bad message.  I know of a number of areas around where I am at that do not currently allow e-bikes, but "regular" bikes are allowed.

Where I come from, in an area of 40km there are hundreds of segments and all the cyclists in the area know them by name. Segment names are a way of describing the ride you just took. All the segments that are done in MTB are also done with the eMTB, so why have 2 different names for the same segment??? Better to have 1 segment with 2 leaderboards than having 2 equal segments with 2 leaderboards!

The same applies to running, hiking, and walking segments. There is little reason for those being separate sets of segments. They are often duplicated.

Yeah you basically have to recreate them for the new sport, ebike. But it would be great to have one set of segments for all biking disciplines, and one leaderboard per discipline on each segment.

Why are the segments different on e-bike? Can we not just have all the segments transferred over to the e-bike category and just have two leaderboards? It’s a bit of a pain going out on the e-bike on a regular route and finding that instead of 20 segments there are only 3. I want to see how the e-bike compares to my gravel bike but can’t because the segments are not there! Is this some attempt at punishing e-bike riders making them add new segments for trails they have been riding for years? Should be really easy for Strava to sort out and won’t affect any leaderboards, you could even allow a comparison between e-bikes and bikes on the exact same segments.

As long as ebikes cant steal any KOMs, i guess i support this idea, but at the end of the day, you could just create the segments you want to see and check how you stack up

I could but I’ve spent plenty time adding segments as it is and I would have to do that all over again! I don’t pay a membership to have to do it all twice! Basically means paying to do Strava a job for them! That’s probably why so many people don’t change their rides to e-bike! 2 leaderboards on all the same segments would be much easier

Now with 8 years or so living with separate e-bike segments it would be a bit late to completely remove the work of the e-bike segment creators and replace the segments with normal bike segments. And ususally the e-bike segments aren't so cluttered with duplicates, bad GPS or ones who ends weirdly after a traffic node. So I'm completely against that idea and everybody should just create the segments new if they need one.

There is a need to differentiate but not by having different names - that is a poor method, imagine if car drivers had one road name and motorbike riders another...

What is required is a way to filter so you can look at the segments that are roadbike, MTB or Ebike.

I follow the argument that some trails are only open to non-ebikes, at the moment someone can ride on such a trail on an ebike (or set the ride to ebike) and make a segment for ebikes.

I am really surprised with the overhead of looking after so many multiple segments STRAVA aren't keen to sort this key area out.  It is clearly creaking - the segment search or browse for instance don't even work for ebike segments - we are paying for half a product compared to others!

And yes - why should we recreate all the routes we made before on other bikes?

I could just leave all the rides as bike and use Veloviewer to work out what I want on how the ebike compared to the HT or the FS on a segment - as others said - no wonder loads of ebike riders don't bother with ebike as a ride type!

I think is a beautiful idea.
The double classification would be the best solution to solve the problem of ebike segments.

And then it would be very interesting to compare the times, and understand in which segments an ebike is better or worst than a normal bike.

I always ride with friends, who have different types of bikes, and it's practically impossible to compare times on the various single track.
