A long awaited feature, listed already several times in the previous community forum.

I even had an interview with Strava staff in 2019 about this: hide start time.

Why ? I do not like the idea to log my position on the internet, but I like segments and sharing with friends. Then the compromise to have the day and NOT the time of activities would be acceptable.

Thanks for submitting your idea. It has been reviewed by our moderation team and is now open to voting. I would like to add that it currently is possible to hide your activity start time from non-followers, however, your start time will always be displayed to followers. To hide your start time from non-followers, please adjust your Profile Page controls to "Followers".

For more information on all of our privacy controls, please visit our privacy center and take the time to ensure your selections in Strava represent your intended experience.

Thanks Soren you are right, now start time is visible to followers only and this is what I expected.

But maybe it could be helpful to indicate in "Profile Page" what happens to start time visibility. Without your helpful message I would have never guessed this behaviour...

Please allow hiding start times even with followers. My followers include business partners, customers etc and it would be useful privacy feature

alternatively please consider adding a “friends” category to differentiate from “followers” you sometimes hardly know

I’d really appreciate this feature, too, I can imagine it is just a simple slider in the activity saying Display start time (active/inactive) Thanks in advance!

Can the functionality be added/created to allow the hiding of the start time of an activity to all groups of users (followers/non-followers etc)?

Having the functionality to hide thelocation of one's Start and End of an activity is great, but not if you routinely run/ride within a certain timeframe, the act of being stalked/found/followed is still available as it takes a person to see every morning around 4:50 and 5:15 I start my activity, the Start location is also not that hard to hide when you live in a cul-du-sac that is longer then area hidden, a greater personalised hidden area would be of better use.

Being able to hide the activity Start time will aide to a lot more privacy, even when trying to hide from Followers.

This aspect of privacy control functionality where I cannot personalize what I want to be shown/hidden continues to hinder me to become a subscriber to this platform.

I get to use friends' accounts to make my routes as I believe the route planning functionality is the best on the market with the added heatmap.

Please could this feature be given some thought wrt added privacy controls.

The functionality to hide one's Start time of an activity, to have a toggle button of sorts to self select this option.

Hiding the location of one's Start and End points of an activity is all good, but a pattern can be established by Followers/Non-Followers/Stalkers to gain an idea of ones routine knowing the activity Start time.

Hiding this aspect will add to the depth of privacy a user wishes to have visible.

That would only impacts the followers, others can't see the start time. And if someone is really really into it he they could guess the start time from the time of upload so you would have to always delay the upload.

Since you are able to change/hide your start position you should also be able to hide the start time on an activity or else organized people could guess when your are not at home if you like me run on almost the same time each day but also because if your employees or boss is following you you might not want to share with them if you are able to run within normal work hours because it might sent some bad signals!

I also think this is a really important safety feature. I think that if Strava adds a "hide start time" feature, it should always wait to upload the activity until 11:59. Does anyone know if the folks at Strava have expressed any more interest in adding this feature?

I’ve tried to make some tickets over the years but they got ignored and last one referred to make a lost here about it.

I noticed recently that I no longer see the activity start times of people I don’t follow, such as in group runs, even if they have a Public profile. Is this new, or did I dream it?

Yes, unfortunately, noticed that too. BRING BACK activity start times. If some people dislike it, make it a privacy option to choose, instead of destroying Strava social features. Just like Strava Flybys has been destroyed by disabling it for everyone by default, and never advertising its existence.

@Sławek What do you mean with "bring back"? I still can see start times of people if I follow them and they follow me back (must be both ways).

@Jan_Mantau up until a week or two ago, for many many years, one could see the start times of all activities in the club feed. Without following those people. It was just recently removed.

If seeing start times now requires a mutual follow, then it seems like this feature is now Delivered. @Soren, any insights‽
