Often times, I will ride different routes to the same locations on my ride. For example, I live about 5 miles from a nearby bridge which I often ride to. The path I take changes, but the start and end points remain the same. It would be very interesting to see my fastest time between these two points within one ride, regardless of the route.
This is why I suggest the feature of waypoint routes for biking.
Overview:
On a layer within the map, user identifies two (or more) locations by dropping pins.
User can name and save the route (public or private).
Leaderboards generate in a similar fashion to segments with all features and stats (KOM, your personal PRs, attempts, etc.)
In short, this feature is extremely similar to segments, but instead of considering statistics for one continuous section of a ride, only the start and end points are considered for a waypoint route. However a rider gets from Point A to Point B is not considered.
This feature will facilitate exploration to with the goal of finding new routes to take between two waypoints, especially in urban environments.
