I tried searching to see if anyone has suggested this. I have been a subscriber for nearly 10 years and each year, the one function I would love more than any other, is to be able to track my progress compared to other years. I like how I can see this month compared to last month, but I target a yearly goal and would dearly love to be able to compare where I am this year with how I have done over previous years.

I don't believe I would be alone in wanting this?

This would add terrific functionality to Strava. Currently, I pair my Strava with VeloViewer.com, and can spend hours analyzing my data. I believe there are other Strava partners that do this, but VV is the one I use.

I am aware of VeloViewer, but that is another cost for something I believe the subscription on strava should cover. I am hopeful it will be available at some point,

Hi @general_error

I should have mentioned this with my first reply - you can track some cumulative statistics year over year on your profile page.  If you select the drop down arrow to the right of the current year, you can select previous year(s) and view number of activities, distance, elevation gain and time, for that year.

I hope that's helpful.

Thanks @Jane., that functionality is well hidden, but is not quite what I am looking for. You do a great job of providing the functionality when view monthly goals. I can see a graph of how I am tracking and how that compares with last month. I would love to be able to do this for a year. Veloviewer does it, I would have thought it would be a pretty simple feature for Strava to provide natively.

Thanks for your reply 🙂

In the mobile app, Strava has a great "Progress" section in which one can compare the monthly accumulation of time or distance spent on each sport to the last month. Add an option to switch last month to same month last year.

In outdoor sports (e.g. cycling), the seasonal comparison is much more useful than month to month. E.g. it is quite normal that on spring each month I will increase the time on bike. What is interesting - am I doing more this April than the last year's April? That would be a progress.

@Janethis feature combines all the sports you have practised, (swimming + running + cycling + etc...)

Is it possible to focus only on one sport for the whole year ?

I see that the same idea has been submitted also in https://communityhub.strava.com/t5/ideas/compare-distance-elevation-and-other-ride-statistics-from/i... earlier, so let's vote for both (or maybe admins can join them in one somehow).

It would get more notice if these could be combined 🙂

For sure. Being able to see my cycling data (miles, elevation, rides, hours), say, the first three months of this year to the first 3 months of previous years makes way more more sense than comparing this month's data to last month's data. I want to know where I stand now compared to the same time years past!

So @Soren , I agree with @general_error , is it possible to combine both request since they are the same to accurately reflect the amount of interest?

Elevate Strava plugin for web browser did this in a very nice way until Strava made it impossible to use by restricting the API traffic.

What Elevate plugin did is that it displayed a graph that showed your year-to-date mileage for day of year. It did it for all years in the past so you could instantly see how you are progressing compared to all previous years - all on the same graph. It was possible to display this for either mileage or elevation gain.

This is an random screenshot found on the web that shows what I mean: https://www.colemanm.org/images/post-images/strava-elevate-yoy.jpg

I really wish Strava had this feature built-in. That would be super useful.

I did not know about Elevate Strava plugin. Anyways, Strava mobile app already has a feature that compares current month to last month (distance or time, per discipline). All that needs to be done is the possibility to change from "this month to last month" to "this month to the same month last year".

Of course, much more can be done, but even the simple change like this would make a huge difference for me.
