Allow users to set in their profile "Mute By Default". This is a privacy setting, users may not wish to "flood" their friends or groups feeds with activities, even if they wish to record these activities for their own record.

Additionally, Mute should be able to be enabled on the web platform too, not just the app.

Hi, I would love for there to be a way to quickly hide activities from other peoples feeds. I know when activities are uploaded you can select to hide but my activities automatically upload and it takes a while to manually stop them from being publicly viewable. Alternatively to automatically hide a specific route eg your commute could also work.

I'd like the ability to mute new workouts and indoor runs by default. That way when I upload them I don't have to go in and mute it after the fact.

It would be useful to be able to post runs (or rides) to "Followers" and walks to "Only You". I dont want to clutter peoples notifications with my dog walks but would like to trck my exercise

Can the Who can see feature be made more granular so that we can sel

Thanks for your comment @CJNorthside -- I just wanted to point out that some similar ideas can also be found here.

Please allow this. I have solved my other issues with Stava, if this were allowed / possible then I would actually be happy with the platform again, and it's a simple thing for the coders to implement! It also needs to bring mute to the web platform as I rarely use the app.

I agree that it's annoying when you don't want to flood your friends view with your dog walks 🙂

This would be so helpful for not showing little work outs that I do.

I would like that to but for a different reason: At the moment my activities are private by default. Then I set the activity name and description, make the activity visible to everyone but I mute it. After some time Strava has calculated the public achivements (like leaderboards) and then I unmute the activity. These two steps are necessary in order to everyone seeing the activity in their feed with the proper name and all achievements.

Muting it by default but making it public would ideal because then the public achievements would be calculated already when I set the name and description.

Actually, there is a little-known workaround that will do this. It is called activityfix.com -- go to their website while logged into Strava. You can establish one or more "rules" that will modify the parameters of your uploads. (Behind the scenes.) The mute option can be one of these parameters.

It's free but slightly complicated. You don't need to be a programmer but you need to understand logic like: Mute any bike ride of less than 15 miles.

I agree Strava should list it as an option on the edit screens.

JBW-Florida, thank you for that, I will check it out. I think I should be able to figure it out, though I do prefer to give permissions to as few 3rd parties as possible, it's a shame strava can't do this.

Hi! Glad to join the community. I hope I'm not returning to old ground, I had a look and didn't see other discussions of this one.

I'm part of a running group, and we like sharing kudos with each other. I'd also like to record other activities without necessarily broadcasting every home workout, evening yoga session, commuting cycle, or breathing exercise, and getting kudos for these, some of which are trivial. I've taken to going into each one once it uploads and either changing it to mute or only me.

In the first instance, I think it should be quicker and easier from the feed to mute an activity, rather than having to go into the activity, and then scroll down and mute that one.

More generally, however, it would be good to have the option of by default sharing only certain activities. It could then still be possible to alter the setting on an individual long or impressive cycle or workout, if I'm out for that kudos.

Thanks @Jane, glad to add to the discussion above! As I said, I support it for all the reasons above. An opt-in rather than opt-out system on broadcasting workouts should be feasible enough!

@JBW-Florida Thanks for that link, I've been using that, and it's been working as planned!

I w as s looking all over Strava for this feature and how to turn it on.  I commute daily and don't want to flood my friends feeds with my daily 4k to work and back - no one needs that spammy nonsense.  I did keep everything private by default, but that breaks some other club mileage, etc.

This feature really should be available.
