Would be good to have maintenace informattion for your equipment integrated in Strava.
Perhaps more useful for biking, you could ad manually entries about, for example:
- When you changed tubeless liquid
- When you changed tha chain
- When you made fork maintenace
Crossing this data with activities data, you could get a "timeline" with all mainteninece operations you have done. So you can know hom many hours of use/kilometers/time since you made maintenance and you will know when you have to do again.
Aditional option could be to add alerts like "Made fork maintenance after 100 hours" "Change tubeless liquid after 6 months" "Replace chain after 2000 km" and Strava reminds it once time has fulfilled according to the data of activities. On the same way, you could know the time/kilometers left until you need to do new maintenance operations

Your feature suggestion’s title was edited to clarify your submission request.

I want to know when I've replaced a battery on my e-bike, but you don't have it on your list of components. Please add to the list I'm assuming it's pretty easy 🙂 🔋
Have been meaning to post this request for years. I was about to post this exact request. I (and all of my mates) agree this feature is a no brainer. I assume it would be quite simple to implement? No different to 'adding a new bike' -- but it sits as a sub category of the bike?
Following on from my previous post... not sure where we are supposed to go for people to 'give kudos'? If these posts were 'easier to find', I'm sure 95% of strava users would agree that this feature is invaluable.
I’m guessing this is the place to leave the requests for a bike ‘maintenance calendar.
- batteries - brake pads - rear cassette- front cassette - rear cassette - chain
Once you have ‘added your bike’ to strava, you have categories you can add which can easily be updated when the items are replaced. Simples
assuming someone from strava reads this… thanks in advance 🤭🙏
@The_finger I think this would be a great feature too.
Unfortunately I am not as organised as I would like and having strava as my maintenance whiteboard would be a great addition.
Cracking idea... I have no memory for when I have changed cassettes, chains, tyres etc.... would be great to have all info in one place along with the ability to see how much life each component is getting when matched with activities on Strava...
Why not keep a notebook? Write it down and throw it on a shelf. I personally have a spreadsheet on my computer, took 3 minutes to make. For my car i have a small notepad in the glovebox, shows date and mileage I change things like the oil and brakes.
I think adding the ability to check maintenance items done to each ride would be extremely helpful. If I could just check "New Rear Tire", "New Chain", "New Front Tube" or "Cleaned and Lubed Chain" at the end of a ride, then it should be easy to have information on when maintenance is required. A maintenance page showing how many miles since each of these items were addressed would help me know what maintenance is required. Perhaps a notification "Check Chain Wear" or "New Chain Due" could pop up after a ride.
If you arent' paying for a subscription - sure. Notepads scattered around your house work fine.
But if you pay for a subscription, you want the app to store and record all of my fitness related info in one place? Surely?
That being said, I did find (buried deep within the strava dashboard), they have already included a very basic components tracking feature - located under 'my gear'. This feature could easily be improved, but it does exactly what was requested in the initial post - allows you to add and retire accessories on your bike. And more importantly it keeps track of distance travelled for each component.
It's true, @The_finger I hadn't seen it before... There is a place for detail equipment of your bike. But as I can see, it's only for adding new equipment or replacement, but not possible to add maintenance operations. Only a small modification to the feature they have already and it would be done....
Thanks for submitting your idea. It has been reviewed by our moderation team and is now open to voting.
since we already log the bike mileage, it would be good if we could log the maintenance schedule so that the user knows when it’s time to service the bike or replace parts. This would also offer Strava the opportunity to partner with new companies to offer discounts or marketing campaigns
Given how maintenance is given in hours, can we have a function when logging our bikes that tells us how long we have ridden for ? And a function we could setup against the bikes, lets say we could set a reminder that at 50 hours we need to service our suspension ?
Yes. Agreed @Gibbo . KM is very useful, but 'time logged' for batteries etc would certainly be a welcomed addition.
