Status: Delivered

Feature: For routes, add grouping and sorting functionality to the web an mobile app.

Over time I have built up a library of routes which I use. Scrolling through them is painful. I would like to be able to group/categorise routes and also sort them by various fields.

**Edit**

Expanding on the comments from my fellow users about this idea, fields to filter and sort by:

  • Route name
  • Created date
  • Last modified date
  • Start location
  • Route type [Out and back | Point to point]
  • Terrain [Flat | Rolling | Hilly | Mountains]
  • Distance
  • Ride Type

The grouping into folders is something I also had in mind but from an implementation point of view I get that tags, filtering and sorting is easier to deliver. Folders would be great though.

I would like to add either destination or mid point and be able to filter/sort by these. Basically the café stop so, location of the café and café name. I have multiple routes to the same café:

  • On a point to point route the destination is the end point. It could also have a mid point for a stop/café.
  • On a an out and  back it could be the mid point or, on longer rides multiple points (multiple cafés.)

Looking at a one to many here, but a café stop option would be great.

Moderator's Edit: we are excited to announce that we launched Route Filters for Web on January 10, 2023. Now, you can search by keyword, filter by multiple sport types and more! We appreciate any and all feedback on this feature so feel free to continue to leave comments in this thread. However, if you have additional suggestions we invite you to submit a new idea. For more info on how to do this, please click here

I just want personal folders! Surely it can't be that difficult!

Hi together,
next comment to the new "organize and search" function. First going into your routes. Then direct scrolling down to the buttons for previous/next page (they should be available at the top and at the bottom of every single page). You are able to scroll page by page through all your tours. If you try to use the "first page" or "last page" button ("<" or ">") - nothing! The system is changing to the next/privious page. Now mark the first route type (in german: "Radfahren"). Now you can go back to the page buttons at the bottom. Maybe you can scroll through 3 pages, maybe 5 (I do have minimum 15 pages), or maybe only the actual page. The same if you use the filter or search function. After selecting or deselecting the route type the system is getting crazy.

Ok I'm going to comment on this again, because this is seriously stupid. This is just a really basic important functionality right?

Strava has a really big developer's team and we pay quite some money. I don't understand this isn't available in the app right now.

Maybe Strava can hire me, I'll build it in 1 week

Any news about the introduction of sorting  routes? Navigating now is even more annoying than before. Recently, there was news about increase subscription but Strava is still without so much basic functionality. Doing or finding something when I have over 100 routes make me sick..

@Azi thanks for your comment, we recently launched the functionality to search and filter Routes on Web and this idea's status was changed to "Delivered", along with a comment from us (a few pages back). You can read more about the update here and here. If you have additional suggestions and feedback, feel free to submit a new idea. Thank you!

@Soren I`m a bit confused about the answer you give to @Azi . You wrote about the status was changed to "delivered". Do we have to understand this statement as "it is as it is"?. Where is the reason to operate this forum when (nearly) no comment of the users will be recognized? STRAVA react on the whises of the users; but with a solution which can not satisfy. What`s about the sorting order of the routes? What`s about the impracticable search-function? (from my point of view a shame for a programmer) Both topics could be changed in a very short time. A lot of STRAVA users, which are also activ at this forum, spend their time to test new functions, to define inspiring new ideas/improvments and to write down them in this forum. So everybody can participate.  I think STRAVA should have more respect to their (paying) users, which do a lot to make STRAVA a better tool.

@Soren I agree 100% with KHKoelln2107. Whilst the recent enhancements are an improvement, they are unfortunately inadequate and fall short of addressing the problem. The new filter capability is too limited to assist with all but the most basic of text searches. Your users shouldn't each have to develop their own strict rules of concatenating text in a precise order to be able to take any benefit from using the new search function. It's simply adding unwanted complexity for users to manage. Neither efficient nor effective.

I would urge you not to regard this fix as "delivered". It can surely only be regarded as such when you receive confirmation from the users that brought the issue to your attention. This is certainly not the case.

I am genuinely keen to make STRAVA better so please don't allow your team to short cut the process.

I agree with other comments above, there is a big difference between delivered meaning Strava did something, and delivering meaning Strava has provided a start that will be evolved in response to ongoing comments. What has currently been delivered is a very poor and ineffective response to months (years?) of requests from users. It really doesn't work in any useful way.

Good afternoon everyone,

Despite the recent improvements made in "My routes", it still does not seem possible to sort these, by distance, elevation, duration, ...

is this under development?

Many thanks in advance,

Best regards
Christopher

Hi there, this is my first post and the reason I joined the community.
I have well over 200 routes in My Routes list in France, Mainland Spain, Mallorca, Italy and The UK. They come up as 16 routes per page and I have to trawl through all of them to find the one I want.
I no longer do this as it's easier and quicker to create a new route.
What I'd like is to be able to is to simply put them into folders:

  • Local Rides
  • The Luberon
  • The Alps
  • The Dolomites
  • Spain
  • Mallorca

Etc etc, can't be that hard can it?

Cheers,

V-V

I'm going to sound like the mods but you should submit that as a NEW feature idea so it can be voted on etc.

You can do this now by keyword in the description but you have to go and edit each route, save it again with the keyword.

I created a new idea to add folder organization functionality for routes in a new idea that you can upvote here:

Thanks for adding this feature on the web. Can you please add it to the mobile app as well.

@Stevo Thanks for your comment, there's an existing idea to enable route filters and folders on mobile here, feel free to vote and comment on it to show your support.
