Please implement a toggle to combine virtual rides with real rides or not. Apparently these used to be separated, but Strava decided to merge them for some reason... If I walk, run, hike, those all count as different activities on my profile, but for some reason Strava decided a Zwift ride is the same as a real outdoor ride, when that's clearly not the case.

I don't care if people want to combine these on their profile, that's their call, but I don't want them on mine. I am tracking my actual rides. And sicne Strava now forces these to be merged, I am no longer using Strava to log virtual activities despite being a paid subscriber. I want to log them, but I want them in their own category. I want them considered for things like freshness scores and activity levels...

With Peloton I can bodge this by classifying them as "workouts", but Zwift Virtual Rides don't allow me to do this since they've got fake gps data...

You have the codebase to merge them, and the codebase to separate them. Please implement a simple profile preference toggle so I can separate these activities and start using Strava again.

Please improve support for Virtual Rides

I don't want my virtual rides to count on my "rides" activity totals, and I don't use my default outdoor bike when I am cycling inside.

1) Please add an activity type for Virtual Rides (as you have for Mountain Bike Ride, Gravel Ride, E-bike Ride, and E-Mountain Bike Ride. It seems like an easy thing to do.

2) Allow us to set a default bike for Virtual Rides.

I have now discovered there is a virtual ride activity type, which can be chosen when creating a manual activity as well, but if you edit the activity then it is not an available option. Having rides tagged as "Virtual Ride" but not logged as a Virtual Ride activity type is very strange & prevents me from wanting to use strava for these activities.

Hey @JimEatsPlants -- There is in fact a Virtual Ride Sport Type, as you recently commented. In order to classify an activity under a virtual sport type, the activity must be originally recorded as a virtual activity using a supported virtual trainer or treadmill. Performing this action will ensure that your activity file uploaded to Strava has the correct sport type information included. Athletes are not able to classify activities manually as virtual.

At this time, virtual activities will count toward your profile stats. This includes the year-to-date (YTD) stats, histogram, and your last four weeks, among others.
There is already an idea that proposes specific gear being automatically assigned to certain Sport Types here. S
how your support by clicking on the kudos button.

Your suggestion to separate Virtual Ride miles from regular Ride miles has been approved by our moderation team and is now open for voting.

Virtual rides and real outdoor rides are not even close to being the same thing. They are 2 entirely seperate activities and the totals should never be lumped together. Apples and oranges.

Soren, thank you, but we should also have the ability to classify activities as such, in case you are using something that doesn't upload it as such. In my case, I am using a peloton, and I don't think spin bike km's should be counting toward my real bike kms. It's hardly comparable.

Currently in the Progress and goals sections there are separate options for Mountain Biking and Virtual Ride, but not for road biking.  The "Ride" category is the only option for road biking, but in the totals and for goals Ride includes Mountain Biking and Virtual rides.  There is currently no way to separate out totals for just Road Biking or Virtual Rides.

Soren, please help this to happen. You proposed in a different thread the idea to toggle in your profile settings whether you wan to include virtual rides in your ride metrics. Strava has the code base to separate them, and to include them. We just need the toggle. I am avoiding using strava for indoor activities because I don't want to mess up my real bike ride stats, even though I'm a paid subscriber, the way strava is doing things is making me stop use it. I just want a toggle switch. With other indoor activities (peloton) I could bodge this to work by swapping them to "workouts", but with Zwift I am not allowed to do that and now I just won't use strava.

I agree, I think I saw a Strava developer write that they separated them a while back, but there was a lot of backlash so they reinstated it. I think that a toggle would be really beneficial for those who want it and it wouldn’t change anything for those who dont care.

I agree 100%. There is no comparison between an actual bike ride and Zwift. These activities were totally separate before the pandemic but they were combined for some reason due to limitations on outdoor and group activities. The pandemic is over and it's time to return to reality.

Strava, please allow us to choose if we want to merge these very different activities in our metrics. I don't, and as a result, I no longer will post virtual or zwift rides to strava. If you allow us to separate them I will.

It would be nice if Monthly Training Calendar and yearly stats summaries broke out virtual (indoor) vs real (outdoor) stats, in addition to providing total stats.

VIRTUAL rides are NOT the same as real world cycling... Please implement a toggle to separate virtual rides with real rides. Apparently, they used to be separated, but Strava decided to merge them for some reason... If I cycle 100km in the (real world) wind rain and heat and that means my activity is the same as someone riding a virtual ride which is NOT the case, but for some reason Strava decided a Zwift ride is the same as a real outdoor ride, when that's clearly not the case. Please change this and add a toggle.

thanks heaps STRAVA RULZZ

It would be very important if it could be filtered separately how many kilometres and how much time I cycled indoors and how much time I cycled outdoors in a given year.
At the same time it would be important to have the possibility to select a magnetic bike turbo trainer(non smart bike trainer)

As a proud all year biker I would like to see in the statistics which kilometers I have collected in the free nature = outdoors and which indoors = during virtual bike rides from Zwift

I agree that virtual rides are different from real rides. I do both and would like to track my metrics on both, but I do not want my real life statistics tainted with my virtual ride stats. To keep my real life statistics real, I do not upload virtual rides even though I’m a paying Strava member. I write them down in a log book. How 1980’s is that? Please Strava, let me keep my real and virtual data separate!!
