✓ Strava Earthquake Donation Challenge

Hi all,

Southern part of Turkey was hit 2 huge earthquakes at 6th of February. 10 cities were demolished, till now, more than 18k people died.

Support and donations are very critical for re-building the life at disaster area.

You are a very popular app. among all cyclists and runners in Turkey. Would you like to consider creating a donation challenge for disaster victims?
First thing comes to my mind, $1 donation per kilometer for this challenge.

Each penny will help 🙏

Thanks for making our idea open for voting.

I am not sure how many kudos are needed to make an idea bring to life, but this situation is very different from feature requests.

You may know that Turkey has faced one of the biggest disasters in human history. 5 days passed from two huge earthquakes (magnitudes 7.8 and 7.5) and still there are so many people under building wrecks. For each days, thousands of people are announced death. Officials said more than 20k people died, but no one knows what death number will be...

As we non-pro cyclists and runners want to help for people who left behind. Especially for the children who lost their families. We think that the biggest cycling and running community of the world, won't be silent for this crisis. Our idea is creating a challenge like Strava's Monthly Challenges for earthquakes. For each km that we ride or run, we can collect some donation, like one dollar per km. For funding this request, we want to get in touch with pro cyclists, runners, grand tour organizations, pro teams, marathons and all individuals that want to contribute. Till now, Tadej Pogacar reacted our request and he said he would help, we are still trying to reach other athletes.

As you Strava, I am sure you will consider this issue. We hope, we can touch some lives with your help.

Great idea. We are lost of many people in South of Turkey. Our physcology is so bad. We cant exercises anymore. This challange will give us hope an encourage to exercise.
