Hi Strava Product Team,

Feature Request: Add support for multiple shoes at one (running) activity

Reasoning: Usually at some type of training I use different shoes to warmup/cool down, and a different shoes pair to the main focus of that training.
It would be great to have a feature to choose multiple shoes pairs for a single activity. Allowing to choose the activity time when we swap them to give the correct KMs for each pair.
For example: Pair 1 from 00:00 to 15:00 (4 KM), Pair 2 from 15:01 to 40:00 (8 KM), Pair 1 from 40:01 to 50:00 (2,5 KM).
It will add 6,5KM to the Kilometrage of Pair 1 and 8 KM to the Kilometrage of Pair 2.

Thank you!

Thanks for submitting your idea on the ability to add multiple shoes to a run. It has been reviewed and approved.

I should add that changing shoes is reasonably common in longer ultrarunning races. I've done that a few times myself. With the way it is currently implemented on Strava, one of the pairs ends up with more than actual mileage while another doesn't get enough mileage. To make that worse, Strava doesn't allow to manually update the shoe mileage.

Agreed, definitely useful on ultras.

It would be nice to be able to select multiple items from gear for an activity. For example, when doing a track session, the WU and CD will be done on different shoes than the main workout itself. It would than also be great to select the distance ran on each shoe, for example with a slider to select the parts ran on the different shoes, just like when creating a segment setting the in and out points. This will lead to a more accurate tracking of milage per pair of shoes, instead of logging the whole training on one pair

Agreed. Especially useful for track workouts with long Wu and cde. Currently have to split into multiple activities to get accurate shoe mileage.

I would love this feature as I change shoes multiple times during each ultra.

@Soren when you say this has been reviewed and approved, does that mean the feature will be added to the app? Is it available now? I'd love to be able to correct the mileage on my shoes for last year's ultra, even if it's a manual adjustment.

Ask:There are several scenarios, specifically with track, where we "shoe flip" meaning we change from: training shoes -> flats // carbon -> training shoes.
Current State: Runners are unable to log mileage accurately between training shoes and workout shoes, with our saving the workout multiple times.
Future State: Allow shoes to have specific mileage allocated to them based on the activity.

There’s already an Idea for this.

Lets say i have a interval session. I warm up with one shoe, intervals with a different shoe and cooldown with the first shoe. Adding the possibility to add both shoes for one activity and also able to divide how many km each shoe had for that activity would be amazing. Garmin has this feature, you can add 2 shoes for one activity, BUT not able to split them up, so both shoes gets the same milage for one acitivty. Thank you for coming to my ted talk. Im new here!

YES!  PLEASE!!! I have a little "problem" with a shoe addiction, and I often run w/ multiple shoes during a single long run just... because... I don't have a problem you have a problem. 🙂   I would LOVE the ability to accurately keep track and split miles and not just go "meh, whatever..." and know that them mileage for most my shoes isn't exactly accurate.

Great  feature to have for ultras. I commonly use 2-3 pair of shoes in a 100 miler. Not out of the question to use more.

ok where does this go from here?

Even a solution that would enable me to edit the mileage on my shoes would be helpful and perhaps simpler to implement. I don't care as much about assigning the mileage to a specific activity.
