Hello,

I think it would be great to add running tracks as points of interest on the map.

This would make it easier for athletes to find tracks in new cities.

Thank you 🙏

Hi Strava,

I think having a Track & Field Finder with comments within maps can be a beneficial feature for athletes.

  • Athletes train at public tracks, play soccer, play football
  • We don't know if the tracks are open or closed to the public. Or if there are bathrooms.
  • There is a website called RunTrack.Run that helps to find tracks, but I think it can be improved if more of the sports community help in operations. The running community can list information about the track's access, opening/closing times, bathroom access, using a general comment feature for people to discuss like a club page
  • The problem is if someone is traveling in a new city, they have to look on Strava's map to see if they can find a nearby track. The routes feature doesn't always show tracks for flat workout sessions and we don't know if it's available.

An example of when I needed this feature - I went to a track this weekend that I thought was open to the public, but it was closed. I got locked in trying to access the track from the backside and then had to jump a fence to get out.

The current beta release for Garmin watches includes a database of 400m tracks around the world, and this feature will soon be live. While the feature for Garmin is to improve accuracy for the "Track Run" activity profile, I agree that Strava having a searchable database of tracks around the world would be incredibly useful.

Currently, it seems like the best way to find a nearby track is by going into Google Maps in Satellite view and panning around until you see an oval.

Of all the possible "Points of Interest," a track search feature would definitely seem the most applicable to Strava's platform goals.

@optimisticprom that is awesome to hear that Garmin already has this feature!

How did you get access to their beta testing program?

@Shant To sign up for the beta program for your device, go to the Garmin Connect website (not the phone app). From there, click on your profile avatar in the upper right corner, then select 'Account Settings.' In the Account Settings menu, select 'Beta Programs' at the bottom of the settings list, then follow the link to sign up for the beta program for your desired device.

Cheers,

Nick
