It's often that a person might start their location in a new location after pausing their ride. They might be catching a train or bus or ferry. Noone wants to create a new ride for where they get off these vehicles.

My suggestion is to have Strava automatically change lines that connect points that stop and start a certain amount (1km?) Away from each other as a dotted line to differentiate between transitioning points and actual riding.

Great idea! Mayb we could get the option to delete those lines all together. It happens a lot to me and my friends when we are doing mountain bike shuttles. or even chair lifts at bike parks

@MakeStravaGreat I noticed they're using dash lines for what I think is off-road sections now? So it might be that transitions are light grey or even thin orange lines.

@LF80 they still show as thick orange lines for me. light grey would be good

This is something that has really been bugging me.

Please, enable something like this!

On my personal heatmap, I can see that the pauses are honored and there are gaps in the lines, as I would expect. This should be possible for the activities itself, too.

@MakeStravaGreat yup..seems they have dotted for offroad now. So yeah...something. I'm sure they can figure it out. Maybe if they got rid of stupid virtue signalling route colours they could have colours to represent different things.
