User Story
As a Strava User (maybe Subscriber?) that enjoys trying out different training criteria
And has just finished an activity
I want the ability to specify my own tags (e.g. 20-tooth, baby-seat, red-socks)
So that I can report on activities with my specified tags and further personalize my training experience

Save/Edit Activity with User Tags (20-tooth and baby-seat, etc):

Filter My Activities by User Tag(s):

Great idea! This would be useful for keeping track of how many miles my dog has run so I’m not overworking her.

Custom tags is something that for such big platform as Strava should be implemented long time ago.

I know they have just merged this topic with another, but why oh why hasn't this been implemented, even to some degree?  I understand that with lots of custom tags its all space in a database that needs to be accounted for, but if its hard to do, why not allow a long list (like they do with shoe manufacturers) and you just choose from the ones you want.... Surely that would be better for now than just nothing and the frustration that we have such a poor amount of activities to choose from!  Come on Strava, a lot of us are paying your subscription fees (me included!) - this seems for a "social media platform" a really important thing to make available....

The best workaround I have found so far is to just tag all "special case" activities with the Commute tag and then enter a note and/or tag in the activity title. That way I can at least find those with a quick filter in My Activities, and combined with the title or note can get to what I want.

This probably skews up aggregate stats on what Commute is supposed to represent, but I don't really commute with activities so that kind of becomes Strava's data problem for not providing custom tags. 🙂

The ability to assign custom tags, search by tag in My Activities, as well as export a filtered listing from My Activities as a csv would solve so many feature requests (stroller runs for example, or grouping multiple types of activities by what race they were for, etc), and is the only feature I would continue to pay for after my subscription expires next month.
