I would love to have the feature to add a Strava segment to my route, like we can currently do with a waypoint. This would definitely make planning routes based on segments much easier.

At the moment I can display the segments in the route planner, but unfortunately I can't add them directly to my route. I always have to set my waypoints accordingly and make sure that the route takes the right turns, as the segment is not always the most popular route.
On most other route planning platforms with segments this is already possible and I would like to see this feature in Strava as well to use the great Strava segments more efficiently.

I agree that Routes and Segments are not integrated as well as they perhaps should be.  When I've created a Route it shows a list of Segments that are in the Route but the list is usually far from complete.

Ideally I'd like to be able to pick, say, 5 or 6 Segments where I want to improve my PB, then show these Segments on a map that allows me to join them together in a suitable way to form a Route.

In general the whole premise that everyone wants to see only the most popular segments in deeply flawed. As I understand that built into the API - that's why both the Segment Explorer and the Route Editor behave the same way. Many of us have no chance of completing on the most popular segments and we seek less popular segments with less competition in order to score higher or maybe have a chance at KOM.

This route-making feature would be nice to have even if it only utilised segments that you've Starred/Favorited!

This is most essential way to make route through some off-road track!
