Hello everybody,

I myself am in possession of a few KOMs on, for everyone, simple segments. Despite my age (40 years) I don't think this is such an achievement. But if I look at my weight (128 kg), then yes.
If I look at all my ridden segments, I would have a lot of KOMs under the "115kg or more" weight category. I am also proud of this.
But if I look at the "Route du Col de Sarenne climb" segment, then of the 42850 people who have completed this segment, I have no less than 216th place in the ranking. Also the 1st place looking at my weight category. I am very proud of this.

Now these "KOMs" are just not visible anywhere, you have to search in your activities.

Perhaps it is an idea to create KOM categories in addition to the KOMs that relate to your age and your weight. For example the "WOM" (Weight Of the Mountain) and the "AOM" (Age Of the Mountain).

Now many people will not be interested in improving their fastest time because of their age and/or weight. Especially on segments that have also been ridden during the Tour de France or something like that.
But if an older / heavier person sees that he / she has ridden a 2nd time in his age / weight category, he may be extra motivated to improve his time during his next ride.

It's a balancing act: too much "awesome! congratulations!" and it feels like a consolation price you'd rather not have. I agree that there could be more, but care must be taken to not overdo it, it'd better be nuanced.

The balance is off anyway since Strava has introduced the rather meaningless local legend awards and even prioritize them higher than real KOMs in the achievements list of an activity. In comparison to the local legend title getting the best time in your age or weight class is a tremendous success and nobody would regard that as a consolation prize. I'm very much for this idea!

Thanks for submitting your idea to include weight based XOMs. It has been reviewed by our moderation team and is now open to voting.

There's already an existing idea for age related XOMs here.

While I’m in favor, the problem is even worse than with the much-requested age-based trophies, in that policing cheaters would be nearly impossible.

...and so much of a diceroll between those who happen to fall into the low end of those brackets and those at the heavy end. Or not a diecroll, because we can't really expect people losing weight to celebrate by updating their profile to get into a more difficult category- And that won't get better by making weight category ranks more visible. It's nice to have those category leaderboards, but imho they are just not good enough to give them more emphasis.
