Bluetooth cadence sensor pairing

JohnSimeone

Hello everyone, I have recently got myself a bluetooth cadence monitor for my bike. Is there an ETA of when I can expect the Strava app will be able to add this device to my account. I have connected heart monitor, but there isn't a cycling cadence option.

Hi there,

We currently don't support pairing sensors besides heart rate monitors through the Strava app. It is on our roadmap, but I do not have an estimated timeline for when it will be implemented. We recommend using one of the many 3rd party applications like the Wahoo Fitness app which can connect both power and cadence sensor types and will automatically upload your activity to Strava and sync your cadence data too. Or, if you are using a standalone device/watch, you can check if the device can sync directly with Strava by visiting https://www.strava.com/apps.

To recap, here is how to record activities with non-heart rate Bluetooth sensors:

Strava Mobile App: Download and record your activities using Wahoo Fitness.

Strava Wearable apps for Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy/Gear and WearOS devices: Continue recording normally.

GPS watches and cycling computers (Garmin, Wahoo, Polar ETC): Continue recording normally.

It amuses me that the official answer is marked as the accepted solution. Unfortunately, I guess they don't care to add the support. I had to switch to using the Wahoo app that works with my heart rate / cadence sensor and speed sensor. So, nobody provides a One-Stop solution. I have to have Wahoo upload to strava.

How is this topic marked resolved? 🤔

I Agree 1 Speed 2 Heart rate and 3 Cadence

I don't think I would call this an acceptable "solution" at all. Using multiple apps to generate simple data that Strava should be collecting in the first place is not a good way to keep users. It should be more than just "on your roadmap," it should be a priority to get the most important data cyclists need to analyze their performances. Ignoring cadence and speed sensors is an embarrassing exclusion.

I wholeheartedly agree...

Totally agree. This is pretty simple foding to make their app a one stop shop. Unfortunately I've outgrown the Strava apps limitations in one year and won't be renewing. I need something more than a "transitory data" app. Read blue tooth from all types of sensors. Strava knows that

I see no need to renew my subscription either.

Just one more issue to shame the Strava development team: wearable is not anymore complaint -> as Apple Watch added support for BT pairing (ex: cadence) the data is captured when using Fitness but once sync happens the cadence data is not imported into Strava *using Strava app*... believe it was shame... now seems lame!
