What happened to the edit segment tool?

THENEWMEXICAN

The OCD gremlin in me really enjoyed cleaning up bad segments. Reporting the duplicates, editing the starting position from someone’s favorite parking spot… But I can’t find that tool anymore and there are still some simple edits that can be done for example:

the start of this northbound segment requires entry from an unmarked trailhead at a ditch further up a paved road with no bike lane:

while the southbound has a simple, clearly marked, and established start + finish on the established trail that runs along a major acequia (irrigation canal) without diversion.

@THENEWMEXICAN I'm not new to Strava by any means and I have been creating and looking for ways to edit segments for a decade or more.  There has never been a way to edit other people's segments.  Period.

The tool not being available coupled with terrible algorithm for hiding/showing segments make segments deteriorate quickly. Lately I often have problems finding natural segments containing the whole climb for example because they are hidden and instead bad segments (starting several intersections before the climb, ending several hundred meters after the climb ends etc.) are shown. No way to report (other than hazard), no way to vote/fix and the default is getting worse. Strava team - please do something about it!

In the web version of Strava you can hide and show segments as you wish and these decisions will be saved. This is even some kinde of vote that can have an effect what segments are shown to others.

I've just tested it: Reporting a segment is still there and editing (if you've created it yourself) is too.

It seems you ignored the topic of discussion in that I’m not trying to report bullying or harassment nor a dangerous segment. I’m trying to edit and clean up bad segments built by anyone.

@THENEWMEXICAN - You never could edit someone else's segment.  They have only ever allowed you to edit ones you created.  The only thing you can do now and have ever been able to do with someone else's segment is flag it which is usually not what most people are looking for.  I would love to go in a clean up bad segments too, but that has never been an option.

you must be new to Strava or didn't explore the online gui prior to 2019 as you used to be able to edit the start and stop point of any segment that you had ever completed. just because you had not explored that tool before it was taken away doesn't mean it didn't exist.

Such a thing was never possible, you could and can only edit segmemts created by yourself.

like I said to the above person: you must be new to Strava or didn't explore the online gui prior to 2019 as you used to be able to edit the start and stop point of any segment that you had ever completed. just because you had not explored that tool before it was taken away doesn't mean it didn't exist.
