Welcome back to Wisdom Wednesday! Every other Wednesday we'll drop a question in the Community Hub. You then have 9 days (that's until the following Friday) to showcase your Strava knowledge and answer the question.

Question: I signed up for a 10k challenge, ran a 10k, and it isn't showing as completed! How can I check my activity to see if it counted?

Thank you to everyone who participated! Both answers contain correct answers and congrats to @anchskier  on being this week's randomly selected winner! If a challenge hasn't been marked as complete, we typically ask athletes to check three options before writing in a ticket:
  1. Privacy
  1. Please check the Details and Eligibility Rules for each challenge to understand what is required. To have eligible, unflagged activities count toward public leaderboard results, you would need to adjust the privacy control for any individual activities in question by following the instructions below. You can read more about this setting here.
  1. Activity Type
  1. Many Challenges on Strava are inclusive to multiple activity types. Each Challenge on Strava will also have its own rules, and there may be some challenges where only certain activity types are eligible. We are working on adding additional flexibility to all challenges; for now, some challenges will only count as ‘runs’ or ‘rides’. Other run-like or ride-like activities, e.g. walks, hikes, or e-bike rides, velombile activities, will not be included in your challenge efforts.
  1. Distance
  1. We usually recommend that athletes go a little farther than the minimum required distance for challenges to account for any GPS-related issues. However, you can also check to see if you can switch your distance stream.

Cover at least 10k on the go and the challenge is completed!

If it’s not completed, go to your activity to verify that you saved it as a “Run” activity.  Also, verify that you ran 6.21 miles or more to count towards the challenge.  Lastly, check to be sure you completed the activity within the challenge window.  The challenge will not be completed if you didn’t satisfy all 3 conditions.

Thanks,

R. Antwine

There are a couple things to check.  First off, did you log the activity under the correct activity type.  Look in the description of the challenge to see what activities qualify for that challenge and make sure your activity is one of them.  If you logged your activity as a "walk", it may not qualify for a running challenge if it doesn't specifically state that a "walk" counts.  Second, make sure that you did the full distance of the challenge, and then a little more.  Sometimes, the true data is rounded one way or the other a little, so what you see on the screen may not register as exactly that when compared to the challenge requirements.  For something like a 10k, make sure to run at least a tenth or two PAST a 10k distance to ensure it will get logged as a full 10k for purposes of the challenges.  If you see your device showing that you ran 10k (or 6.2 miles), it may actually be 9.95k (or, say 6.16 miles) and would likely not qualify as completing the challenge.  I always make sure to go beyond the benchmark distance to ensure I get full credit.  Another thing is to double check the privacy settings on the activity.  Some challenges may limit the qualifying activities to those with specific privacy settings.  Check the rules of the challenge to make sure your activity fits within those requirements.  The other thing you can do is to "refresh activity achievements" from the main activity page.  This can help correct a missing achievement from an activity that the system may have glitched on the first time around.
