I think adding Meditation as an activity type will be great for Strava.

This is important because:

  • Meditation helps athletes calm their mind and improve mental health before big races
  • Strava can partner with guided meditation apps like Calm or Headspace to send directly to the activity feed like Peloton/Zwift
  • As an incentive and benefit for subscribers, Strava can give free access to Calm/Headspace/Tara Brach/Sam Harris specifically for endurance athletes. Headspace has partnered with Nike.
  • Meditation activity can be set to private to respect athletes and athletes can choose if they want to make it public by opting in.

An example of when I would want this feature is every morning. I try to take one deep breath every day and would do it more often if I saw that my friends are doing it too. And I'm interested to know who they follow and which guided sessions they use. Thank you Strava!

It would be good to have a new activity type of mindfulness. I currently use a third-party app on my Garman watch to track it, which only syncs through to my Strava as general “workout” type of exercise. While mindfulness is not specifically a fitness exercise it has definitely been scientifically proven over the last 20 years to be beneficial to your overall well-being, stress, health, recovery, focus and sports performance. Mindfulness has become widely accepted as a beneficial practice in performance for athletes. Tracking mindfulness sessions and its effects on your health, well-being and performance would be very beneficial, similar to tracking an injury and its affect on your performance (I’ve seen another suggestion in this feed regarding injury tracking which I think is equally valuable).

Hi all,

Are you in any meditation groups on Strava?

I just joined Zen Runners. Are there others?

Superb idea and +100 from me. Would love to see Insight Timer stats getting uploaded to Strava, just as it does to Apple Health. No idea why this isn’t the case yet…

My garmin integration syncs meditation activities, and it shows up as a "Workout." I change it to Yoga, but that doesn't feel right. Please add a Breathwork or Meditation activity ASAP!

Garmin and Apple Health has meditation as activity type. Please add it.

100% this should be something Strava should add!

Why has Meditation and /or mindfulness still not been added as an activity type? I see that integrations for Oura are now complete; however breath work and meditation do not syc from Oura to Strava. Also, the Garmin meditations sync over as workouts still. Monthly cost are increasing for Strava, so I would hope that this can be added sooner than later.
