just did a Strength workout named "campus" on my Garmin watch; on Garmin Connect that activity gets the default title "campus" whereas on Strava it shows up as "Afternoon Weight Training" (this also holds for runs and bike rides).

I can see that the workout name information is inside the FIT file.

It'd be awesome if the Strava logic for creating activity names/titles incorporated this.

I use https://www.activityfix.com to accomplish this. Great for naming activities on Strava.

For anyone wondering how to fix the title with www.activityfix.com (kudos for the rules go to the Support of ActivityFix!).

You can define one rule to "Set title" to "[[fit_name]]".
This will only work for new activities and not for "Process Old Activities".

Depending on the activity type, the resulting title will also contain the location of the activity.
You can remove the location by adding a second rule to "Replace text" with "/:/^.+?\s-\s/:/" in "title" with "" (keep empty).
This rule can be triggered when the "Previous Rule" matches the first defined rule.

"/:/^.+?\s-\s/:/" is a regular expression (a regular expression can be defined by adding "/:/" to the beginning and end).
"^" matches the beginning of a text
".+?" matches any number of characters (the location) until
"\s-\s" matches the separator " - " between the location and workout name.

Hello,

I would like to know if there is any progress on this one.

Thank you in advance

Need this. All sauna, plunge and other activities are recorded as runs.

it’s a hassle to change all the names after a workout + 3 saunas + 3 plunges.

some sort of categorization would be good as well.

That's a great idea, if I start a training activity on Garmin it will have the title related to whatever it was eg Week1 400m x 10 but on Strava I have to manually add that info. If that data is shared then it makes sense to use it.

Yes this is a great idea. I'm genuinely surprised such a commonly used brand of smartwatch/fitness watch like garmin doesn't communicate with a platform like strava. Surely the data exists, or can be simply tweaked (it works for Apple watches and from phones both using garmin on Apple and Android).

Bonkers that it doesn't exist already so hoping this will get actioned fairly soon! Thanks for the suggestion.
