My Strava runs are being auto populated with the Garmin titles whereas before it would just be morning run, evening run etc. does anyone know how to turn this off and go back to the generic titles?

Not only the title, the notes as well, I’d prefer not to have my coach’s notes auto published in the Strata Activity description.

I welcome the feature, because I was already looking into how to sync the activity titles, and started to use ActivityFix for some of my workouts.

However, I would also like to have a configuration interface for this feature (e.g. not to push the workout notes to the activity description).

Any update on this?. As user above says, Coach made sessions with notes coming from Final Surge etc that clients paid for are now being automatically made public on strava when imported from Garmin connect. Most coaches will be asking them to delete the description/notes that are personal to them. If this is a permanent change then an opt out feature would be most welcome by the coaching community am sure….

I logged a support ticket with the Strava helpdesk they redirected me back to this thread as the place they are collecting feedback. Hopefully they will also see the reddit threads on the same topic.

Here is my message

Dear Strava Support Team,

I’m writing to raise a concern regarding a recent change in how Strava handles activity data synced from Garmin Connect.

As of today (June 4, 2025), I noticed that the title and description from my structured workout in TrainingPeaks were automatically populated into my Strava activity, without any action on my part. This has not occurred previously, despite using the same integration (TrainingPeaks → Garmin Connect → Strava) for a long time.

Upon further checking, other users are also reporting the same issue, including those using other platforms like Runna. It appears that Strava has begun parsing and applying metadata such as workout titles and notes from the original .FIT file via Garmin Connect. If this is a newly implemented feature, I would like to express the following concerns:

Lack of Notification or Opt-In: There was no announcement or setting change requested from my side. Automatically publishing metadata like workout titles or coach instructions raises privacy implications, especially if workouts are made public by default.

Potential for Unintended Information Sharing: Structured workouts can contain personal notes, pacing strategies, or coach commentary — not all of which are intended for public visibility.

No User Control: There currently appears to be no way to disable this behavior from within Strava’s interface or account settings.

Could you please clarify:

Whether this is an intentional platform change,

If there is a way to opt out or prevent titles/descriptions from being auto-filled,

And whether a formal announcement or support documentation is forthcoming?

Thank you for your time, and I appreciate your attention to this matter.

Thanks Professorswamp, very well put. I tweeted about this just now and asked people to come here to give their comments/feedback...

Glad to see there is already a thread on this. Fine if some people want to sync this info but Strava needs to provide an opt out, or rather an opt in because it happened automatically and was posted before I saw it to remove it. Major privacy violation depending on what people put in their notes!!

Just came across this update tonight, major privacy concern!!!!

I have asked garmin connect about it also as suspect Strava may just say they are just importing from Garmin what we give them permission for. Garmin currently have 1 slide box for activities to be sent for strava. Hopefully they could split this into minimum generic data activity option and a full data option with run title description/notes etc for those that want that to be sent to strava

Seems to have reverted back, today i just got “morning run” by default

I actually thought it would be the exact opposite. Having a title and a description synced from Garmin to Strava looks like a great way to attract more people as a coach and get possibly more positive influence around hobby runners who have no idea how much better is it to be motivated by a GOOD coach 🙂 so yeah I’m so sad it’s disabled.

i agree it would make sense to have it configurable.

Anyone knows if this setting could be configured now? I actually would like Strava to automatically sync title and notes from Garmin activities.

Hi everyone, Strava team here! Last week, we ran a short-lived test to surface workout titles and descriptions. After listening to our community, we ended the test on last Wednesday. We appreciate the feedback and have no plans to revisit this.

You should give individual users the ability to choose what to share (activity name, etc.) and what not. For me it was a beautiful feature that doesn't force me to use third-party apps.
From what I read I guess this feature will no longer be used on Strava...too bad!

I like the feature, it is exactly what I would expect from a sync feature.

Before this, it was weird that Coros and other activities sync the title, but Garmin’s doesn’t, so it's consistent now.
