This problem continues and is clearly not solved. I have updates the Strava app and still the Apple Workout app takes over turning off Strava and deleting the workout results.
Maybe time to dump the watch.

what do you mean by “workout app takes over”? Are you trying to use both Apple Workout and Strava on the same watch at the same time?
