Heart Rate Data Not Uploading

I program workouts on my Apple Watch 7 and the data auto-syncs with Strava once completed. Last night my phone and watch updated their operating systems, only an incremental update not a full version upgrade. I tracked a run this morning and noticed that my heart rate data didn’t transfer across. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

Apple Watch 7. WatchOS 11.5

Iphone 12 Mini. IOS 18.5

Hi @stewarnott,

I’ve checked and I’m on the same iOS/WatchOS (different AW and iPhone models but that shouldn't matter). My latest activity recorded after this update does include the HR data, so it's probably not something global.

Try toggling the permissions in the Health app (mine isn’t in English so apologies if the button names aren't exact): in the bottom, tap Sharing, scroll down and tap Apps, find Strava in the list, tap it, disable all permissions and enable all again.

Also double check your settings in the Strava app: tab You > gear wheel in the top right corner > scroll down and tap Data Permissions > Health-Related Data > Allow.

Ciao @stewarnott. Try to check the health data permission on Strava settings if it's currently set ON and be sure your watch is recording HR data after the update.

Thanks for your reply Vincenzo.

I have checked that the data permissions in Strava are ON and I can see in both the HEALTH and FITNESS apps that my heart rate was recorded. The update must’ve broken something :(

Hi @Jana_S

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my question, I really appreciate it.

Are you recording directly to Strava or through the Fitness app on the watch?

I’ll try resetting the data permissions as you suggested and see how things go on my run tomorrow morning.

Thank you :)

I’m recording with the apple fitness/workout app on the watch (that yellow-ish running man icon 😀), and then syncing to Strava. The one difference is that I’ve disabled the auto-sync and do it manually, but I wouldn't expect that this could have any impact on the HR data.

Thanks @Jana_S If I still have a problem tomorrow I’ll try turning off auto-sync.
