I find the components feature really useful to track wear on bicycle parts. Why not include an option for each component to trigger a reminder when a certain mileage is reached on a component? Perhaps it was realizing that I have 3,600 miles on my rear MTB cassette (new one ordered) that made me think of this.
You could remind yourself to check the chain after 1,000 miles, etc.
