I'd like to download a large area onto my phone with my heatmaps so I can access this from the trail when I have no service.  I can do this on Trailforks but it does not show my "private" routes.

Is there a way to download the  Strava map locally to my phone and still have access to trails/routes that I recorded when I open the app and not "in service"?  Again, the trails that I want to access on the map would be private not public.

Thanks in advance

Hey @ganginwood,

Apologies for the delay.

Strava provides the option for subscribed athletes to download the GPX or directly export an activity into our Route Builder.

Download GPX File:

On any activity page you’re viewing, you’ll now see a “GPX Download” button located at the top-right corner of the activity’s map.

GPX files are tied to an athlete’s Privacy settings, therefore all activities available for export are stripped of any performance data upon download and respect Privacy Zones except for your own file. If an activity is private, only the athlete who owns the activity will be able to export the GPX.

There are some cases where you won't be able to export the GPX file of another athlete. If an athlete has Enhanced Privacy turned on, and you do not follow that athlete, you won't be able to download their activities.

Create a Route from activity:

If you would like to create a route from another athlete's activity: Go to an activity page and click on the three-dot icon on the left-hand side of the page and click Create Route. Our Route Builder will do its best to convert the activity to a route.

Create a Route from GPX:

You can create a Strava route from a GPX file builder by selecting Dashboard from the top navigation menu on the Strava website > My Routes > Create New Route. Click the upload button (right of the search bar) and choose the GPX file you would like to use to create a route. Once the file has been uploaded, you can adjust the waypoints on the map or edit your route preferences as necessary. Select Save once you've finished.
