I have numerous bikes and just recently bought an e bike. I see that when I designate the ride as an ebike ride, I do not get credit towards my yearly riding mileage goal. I don’t want to mess up the segment results because of using an ebike and have no problem listing it as an ebike ride. But I don’t like not getting credit for my yearly mileage and that creates a moral dilema. Do I not list it as an ebike and F-up the segment times, or list it and not get total mileage credit. Strava realizes this is a problem when it sent out notices recently that it intends to increase flagging segments. It would help if I could count all my rides, on all my bikes including my ebike towards my yearly goal and not have to make a choice. I have seen segments that I know the leading time is an ebike over a regular bike and I don’t like it. C’mon Strava, fix this.
Don’t list your e-bike rides as regular rides. That just causes more issues. If you want your e-bike rides to count towards your total goals, you will need to add a goal for “All Sports”. This will combine everything toward one total goal.
Thank you, that works.
That solution works just fine if you only ride bikes. In my case I use Strava to also track my walks and hikes and used to use it for my runs before I had to stop running. I want to be able to set goals for riding, regardless of the type of bike, which Strava doesn’t seem to support. To make matters worse, the website doesn’t show any goals other ride, run, and swim, so you have to use their phone app to see other goals.
To be honest, I just think that Strava is just being lazy.
E-rides are e-rides. Rides are analogue rides. All-rides are Rides + E-rides.
As IslandTime I use Strava to record other activities (walks and kayaking) and I wish to see how many miles I do in my bikes not matter if they are electric or analogue.
So I have to consider if it is worth to keep on paying for premium…

I understand your dilemma! It’s frustrating when e-bike miles don’t count toward your goals, but mixing them can affect segment fairness. Hopefully, Strava will find a better solution soon.
In the meantime, wearing quality gloves like motorcycle gloves helps protect your hands and keep you comfortable on every ride, no matter the bike.
