There are lots of sport types that have been marked as “NOT CURRENTLY PLANNED” under Ideas:

These have thousands of votes and I believe some of these are low hanging fruits. Not talking about exotic sports like diving chess or ulak tartysh, but rather something very popular across the globe, like volleyball, basketball, rugby (we already have a soccer) or padel (there are racquet sports already).

Would be also nice to reconsider some extra fancy sport types in order to make bigger fun factor for the site, like horse riding, scuba diving, martial arts, or even free flying. These sports are side-sports (or even main) to many and would significantly raise the social / fun factor of the site. You may also skip the calculations (like kcal burned) if it’s too difficult, just make an icon and dropdown option :)

Please add fighting sports to Strava

I seriously don’t understand what they lose by adding more sport types. I imagine if the app’s code is modular in any capacity, it would take barely any effort to add a new sport. Just need to commission a few new clipart icons and add words to a list... I’m sure it would foster new communities and increase the user-base of strava with basically no downsides as far as I can tell.

Like why don’t they just support all of the activities supported by Garmin/Apple watch? It would make so many customers happy. I can’t imagine it would take more than 1 day for any dev to add all of them. Maybe the problem is they pay lots of money for the custom clipart or something silly? 😂 I bet they could easily get royalty free stuff online for basically every sport. If not, they should at least add sports with popular demand instead of seemingly random ones. It doesn’t make sense to me.
