Hello October!
Welcome to Strava's Community Hub! It’s now spring in parts of the Southern hemisphere and autumn in parts of the Northern hemisphere. Here in the United States October may be considered a sports fan’s favorite month. October marks the time of the year in which 4 major professional sports leagues have scheduled games throughout the month….
-The National Basketball Association (NBA) will begin its preseason on Oct. 5 (regular season will start on Oct. 24)
-The National Hockey League (NHL) will begin its regular schedule on Oct. 10
-The National Football League (NFL) is in its second month of the season in October
-And Major League Baseball has entered its postseason with Wild Card Series (starting Oct. 3) & the World Series (beginning on Oct. 27)
On occasion, all 4 leagues will play on the same day. Did you know there’s a term for this? It’s called a sports equinox! To date this has happened just 29 times since 1971 (most recently on November 3, 2022).
