Hello, and welcome to Strava's Community Hub, we’re happy to have you here! If you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, the days are getting shorter and the temperatures are starting to drop. It’s time to start getting ready for winter activities! If you’re looking for longer, warmer days, it’s time to head to the Southern Hemisphere where you can enjoy the late spring weather. November also brings many celebrations, events and holidays; check out some of them below…

One of the biggest marathon races takes place in November; the New York City Marathon. If you’re in NYC on Sunday, Nov. 5, be sure to cheer on the runners as they make their way through all 5 boroughs to the finish line in Manhattan's Central Park. We also have some other posts on this year's NYC marathon; you can check them out here, here and here

On Nov. 1st & 2nd, you can join many communities around the world that will be celebrating
Día de los Muertos, a 2 day celebration that honors the lives of departed loved ones.

Starting on November 12, Diwali, India's biggest and most important holiday of the year will begin. Also known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is about light overcoming darkness, good overcoming evil, and wise thoughts overcoming ignorance.

In the United States, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving on the 4th Thursday of the month (Nov. 23). This national holiday is to give thanks for the harvest and be thankful for one's family, friends, food and health.

These are just a few celebrations this month. To those celebrating one of the many holidays this November, we hope you enjoy spending time with your friends and family. And to those running the NYC marathon, good luck!

Do you have something you're looking forward to this month? Drop us a reply below, we'd love to hear from you!

how many hours per day when days get shorter?

Hey @SiroFits,
Depending on where you are will depend on how many hours of daylight you get a day. Currently, we get about 10 1/2 hours of daylight in California. That will drop down to under 10 hours by the end of November.

I've always heard of Diwali, but had no idea what it represented. Now I went off onto Google after reading your article, ABSOLUTELY FASCINATING! Been celebrated for over 2500 years. Happy Thanksgiving!
