i found the same issue. the new route page is useless.... it is meaningless by giving a list of segments without the ability to see where these segments locates on the route. when i click on a segment name, i will be take away from the route and to the segment's detail page...
i also need the ability to see at a glance on the route which segments have i starred...
Strava please fix this
Hello @sonny4
Thanks for posting about this.
We have made some recent changes to the Routes Page on Web and will continue to iterate on this. Thanks for your feedback, it has been noted.
I see that the Route page has seen improvements. Thank you for that. If it's not planned already, I would once again suggest that you add the ability to star/unstar segments right on this page. It's hugely missed. It allows me to plan the segments that I want to improve. I see no good work-around currently.
Hopefully this iteration can be backed out - it defeats the object of route planning when a rider plans a ride in order to target or measure segments.
Starring them via a list is important, as is seeing segments on a route when using the App
thanks
You can keep the new Route detail page on Web if for whatever reason you find it better, but please, enable us to switch to the old version. Hopefully, you can write the selection to the database, so the system knows which version to serve the next time. At least give us something here, please.
Hey @Jane11 , sorry, but this does not solve the Starred Segments issue.
I've been using Strava segments on my garmin edge cycle devices for about a year now and have had great fun and a lot of good results racing against myself and others on Live segments. Over the last few months many of my starred segments simply will not appear when I create a new route on strava as they did before. I know about starring and unstaring to prompt segments to appear on garmin but now many of my favourites are not even appearing on Strava at all. I have had many communications with strava support who are helpful and tell me it is due to a bug that is effecting everyone and not just me yet I still haven't spoken to any cyclists who are experiencing the same problem.
Does anyone out there have any knowledge of this or are any of you having the same or similar problems ? Any advice or pointers would be gratefully received
Thanks
Dave
I can't believe no one else is complaining about this? I created a route last night and knew I was missing segments and the ability to star them. When I completed the ride, the ride summary was FULL of segments and the ability to star them right down the line. Starred segments also aren't transferring to Garmin.
It's sad to see us paying customers are ignored by Strava. I have a feeling that the developer team has changed. The new ones are confused. There have been other questionable changes recently, like adding some useless photos to the route detail page (for decoration?).
To get strava segments on my garmin edge 530, I have always starred the segments, created the route on strava, starred the route. The route then appears in garmin connect with the purple start and end segment flags which allows my garmin edge to start and end the segments on the ride.
Recently I've noticed an issue when creating routes on the strava website. The segments I have starred no-longer appear to be recognised when creating a route, they don't appear in the list of segments under the route.
This means the start and end segment data is not added in the sync to garmin and the purple flags don't appear in garmin connect etc... etc... and segments do not appear on my edge 530.
I can't be the only one with this issue. It seems to have appeared since the route website changed
@Jane11 when will this issue be resolved? Just to be clear, your response of "it has been noted" is not a solved answer and should not be marked as such. What's the point of paying for strava if I can't make routes that include live segments?
This change is TERRIBLE. Why change a brilliant and eminently useful bit of UI?
very frustrating and severely degrades the usefulness of the site and app
Hey there, we've had a few posts about this and it is a known issue for Garmin live segments. Feel free to check out this post with more info.
i can no longer star routes on the app. wtf?! how do i get routes to sync to garmin?
Same for me - anyone know how to select routes to sync to garmin as you can’t star them on the app??
Found it - once on a route, you can swipe right on the “Saved, Offline” etc icons and the star button is hidden to the right
Dear Strava, could you please fix it?
I'm using old routes (2 years old), because new planned routes are almost without segments. We need to explore map to find segment, which is really frustrating.
Strava, why is this so hard? You've bragged about all the work you've released to plan/make/create routes except the feature we want the most doesn't work.
1. After creating a route be able to view and STAR all the segements without that route.
2. Have those starred segments show up on our live segments on cycling computer.
This is why I pay for Strava, can we please have an status of when this can be fixed?
@Jane11 It's been two months. There's no response from you or Strava on this matter. It simply doesn't work to have starred segments in a route any more. I dropped all starred segments but ~40 or so. Added a new segment and confirmed it sync'ed to my Garmin and shows if I ride without a route. It will not show in a Strava created route (purple flags on Garmin.)
Still broken. Still useless ...
It's now almost 10 months since they broke this. Not even a partial fix. It seems like half baked changes are made and then completely abandoned nowadays, even if they're one of the most used or relied on features by both paying and non-paying members. Maybe 10% of segments show up on routes created since this change (if you're lucky). Not to mention that the star / unstar feature on routes for segments was removed.
Strava is a total disaster these dayys.
@Jane11 I have a long email chain with a Strava staff member calling themselves Bruce who claimed to be dealing with this "bug". This went on for several months but I no longer get replies on the issue. Can we please have an update and return to the service we all signed up and paid for at the outset which included the ability to create a route which includes starred segments. @sonny4 have you any more info than I have ?
@Dave11 I would like to say Strava listens to the concerns of us, their paying customers, but they don't. I don't know of any progress on the issue of the route detail page on web. It would be an easy fix for them, but instead, they are busy fiddling with useless stuff, like those random photos, even replacing maps in some cases with those photos...
Stravas poor decisions lately even lead me to believe they have replaced their dev team, or at least their leadership. They had a wonderful product, and now the new people are ruining it.
Hi @DaveSudds
Thanks for your post. I've checked in with Bruce and at this point we don't have any further information or updates. We are still working on resolving this issue but we do not have a timeline that we are able to share for when it might be resolved. We appreciate your feedback and will pass it along.
So let me get this straight. You broke one of the headline features of the platform nearly a year ago, haven't bothered to find the cause, let alone a fix, and nobody is assigned to do either ...
What on earth is the point of adding the waypoints thing (which is hugely dysfunctional), when this is still dead?
Also, re: segments in general, please finally move them to the routes model saved and starred, not purely starred. It would allow people to manage which segments are on their head unit.
