Hi all,

I submitted the Developer Program form on April 12, 2026 to move my app out of Single Player Mode, and emailed developers@strava.com as a follow-up about a week ago. No reply on either so far.

Reading other threads I see this is fairly common, so two questions for the community:

1. What's a realistic current timeline? Recent posts mention anything from 1 week to several months — has anyone been approved recently (April–May 2026)?
2. Anything that helped speed it up? Specific format for the follow-up email, screenshots to attach, contacts that worked?

For reference, my app:
- Name: ReadyRun (AI running coach, Android)
- Client ID: 216890
- Site:https://readyrun.run
- Webhook already configured and validated, OAuth flow tested end-to-end
- Read-only scope, no write-back

If any Strava staff happens to see this and can check the status, I'd really appreciate it. Otherwise, any tips from devs who've been through this recently would be gold.

Thanks!
Sergio

Hey Sergio,

Any luck on your application?  I am currently in the early stages of development of an app but am wanting to learn more about how Strava has been handling this transition to “Standard Tier” API access (11–9,999 users).

Best of luck with your app as well, looks like a great idea!

Thanks,

Noah

Heads up to anyone building AI coaching or training plan features on top of Strava data. Strava's current policy explicitly bans using API data in AI models or similar applications. This is a flat out ban, not a grey area and there's no approval path for it. Your app will not pass review with this feature intact. Remove it or rebuild it without Strava data before submitting.

@Mark_AJ  Thanks for the warning Mark_AJ. I want to clarify how ReadyRun actually uses Strava data, since "AI running coach" may sound misleading in the current context.

Strava integration in ReadyRun is used exclusively to:

1. Display the authenticated user's own past activities in their personal dashboard

2. Generate a post-run summary shown only to that user

The AI coaching and training plan adaptation is driven entirely by physiological data from Android Health Connect (HRV, sleep, recovery score) — not Strava data. Strava data is never passed to any AI model, never aggregated, and never used for training or inference.

ReadyRun complements Strava as an activity log; it does not use Strava data for coaching decisions.

Thanks for the clarification @sergiotoini that sounds better, but the AI coach mention could be why it may have went through an automated flag. If you had clearly outlined how LLMs are used in your application as you have detailed above then that's good.

One thing I noticed from your site which could be another flag:

- app is gated by a waitlist, no visible Connect to Strava button

- no Powered by Strava

This isn't compliant to brand guidelines, reviewers need to see the Connect to Strava button clearly and Powered by Strava.

This is just based on what I could see publicly, you may have posted screenshots of it but I have a feeling reviewers need actual access to the physical button as well

Thanks Mark_AJ, very helpful feedback. You're right — the site is currently waitlist-only so those brand elements aren't publicly visible. I'll add the "Connect with Strava" button and "Powered by Strava" attribution to the public-facing site and share screenshots here shortly.

Thanks for the detailed feedback — really appreciated. I've made the following updates to the public site:

- Added the official "Connect with Strava" button to the Strava integration card - Replaced the custom "Powered by Strava" text with the official badge (now appears both in the integrations section and the footer) - Updated the card copy to explicitly state that no Strava data is used to train AI or shared with third parties

Screenshots attached. The OAuth flow with the official button is also present inside the app itself.

Happy to provide any additional info if the review team needs it. Client ID: 216890
