API Agreement Update & How Data Appears on 3rd Party Apps

Updated on Nov. 20 We wanted to provide some additional context around the changes to our API Agreement and the impact for our users and developers. We currently anticipate these changes will impact less than .1% of applications and proactively notified the majority of those affected last week. Enhanced Privacy and User ControlPrivacy and user control are at the forefront of our platform. As a result, we are committed to evolving our API practices as regulatory requirements and user expectations shift. This includes  the decision to limit the ability of a user’s data to be displayed by third-party apps in ways the user may not expect. Specifically, we want to thoughtfully address situations where users connect to a third-party app and are unaware that their data is being surfaced not just for their own use and visibility, but also to other users (for example, in a public feed or heatmap). TCX upload stopped working.

I have been uploading tcx files for a while and it worked without problems but recently they have stopped working with the very useful “Error processing Data” message.Does anybody know what changed? Or does anybody have an idea on how to debug this?The tcx file is still well formed and valid.

Wrong results from Athlete Stats API

Dear all, I have noticed a recent change in the “Athlete Stats” API: it is returning partial values for distance and elevation (not the same values that are visible on the profile page on Strava, as this API alway did in the past).Also I’m getting decimal values (see below in red). Discrepancies in athlete stats

I have an application integrated to strava api. For some athletes the stats in the API are wrong. Mostly the alltime ride distance, number of rides are way too off.  Interestingly the strava android app is also showing the wrong data when viewed as a follower. But the website is showing correct data. How can this be resolved?

API club activities not showing activity date

Filter club activities by date

Hello, I'm using the getClubActivities endpoint to keep a tally of individual rides in my club. I would like to limit the response to a certain date, or at least to a certain week (i.e. this week). Is there a way to do this? Getting the date of the activity in the API Response would be enough.  Lastly, I couldn't find info on the units for the time and distance that is returned by the endpoint. I assume it's seconds for time, but not sure for distance.  Any help is appreciated.

Most recent segment completion exported to google sheets?

Hey, in google sheets, I’m attempting to set up an automated spreadsheet to use a few segment URLs as an input, and provide an output of the segment’s name and also the most recent date ANYONE has completed it. I’ve successfully grabbed the segment’s name, but not sure how to go about getting the most recent completed date. I don’t care at all about the person’s name or time or any personal information - literally just what was the date it was most recently completed. Can anyone offer a good way of doing this via Strava’s API? I have already created an API app as a DataImporter and am using google’s AppsScript editor to aid in this. Thanks for your help and time.

Athlete V3 stats API all_run_totals and others are incorrect

Since last week I noticed that the all_*_totals (eg. all_run_totals) have reset on the API to start counting from 0 even though the Strava Portal clearly indicates a much higher number.  On Strava portal my all time running stats are 113However the API https://developers.strava.com/docs/reference/#api-Athletes-getStats no returns only my most recent run count"all_run_totals": { "count": 1, "distance": 5630.0, "moving_time": 2473, "elapsed_time": 2519, "elevation_gain": 86.63724517822266}, How do I get this corrected?

FIT file is never processed

As of about a week ago any workout I have tried to upload to Strava through the API is never being processed. I checked my console log when uploading and I get a response message with a successful response code. The status field states - “Your activity is still being processed.” Here is an example of the response:success({ "activity_id" = "<null>"; error = "<null>"; "external_id" = "jtw_673D5484-C0C2-40E0-B726-B6E04C98BE86.fit"; id = 13724712499; "id_str" = 13724712499; status = "Your activity is still being processed.";})When I try to manually upload the same FIT file through my profile it begins “analyzing” the file, but never completes. Also never met with any kind of error code. I have not made any changes to how I am creating these FIT files and they have been processed successfully for over a year up until this point. Has Strava possibly changed/added a required field that I am unaware of?

Purchased a Gift Subscrition for a friend that i never recieved

Purchased a Gift Subscrition for a friend that i never recieved - strava has done absolutely nothing to help the fact! This is like my last resort posting here - haven’t received any response on any support feed and have already paid for the subscription in full! Is there anything I can do at this point?? Coming to terms with the fact that I just have to take the $80 loss at this point

401 error for GET requests

I'm unable to perform any GET requests after completing the initial auth setup and successfully exchanging the auth token for refresh token, access token, and expiration date. why access key of a user is expire every time from my site

Hello Allcan you please help me to find out that why every time access key is expire.i have a website where i need to fetch all the races of a user who have account in strava, now i have created that user access token key and store in my database, every time when user come and want to see all races its showing that your access key is expire, again i have to regenerate the key and the process going on. kan anyone please tell me why its happen?

number of efforts for specific time period on segment

Fix route creation

Tried to write this when forums where down (lol), so brief and to the point here:Fix route creation. Cannot believe it hasn’t been fixed yet, it’s useless now. Nothing is functional, it selects the specific route no one wants to ride, double click adds a way point (I think single click for that is enough clicks, there are only so many, and right now, I give zero clicks for my previous fave function). Concretely: get the functionality of the old model. There are many others things that are wrong, you can find a long list in all the posts that no one submitted when the forum was down.Oh, and make sure you ditch this API circus. I know whoever reads this has zero influence on it, but I just want you to know had bad Strava is becoming.Thank you for once being awesome.

Add sport type to webhook events

First of all, I want to appreciate you for making the API publicly accessible. But day to day I face issues, or lack of features, that make integrating with Strava harder. I hope this one is not another thread unanswered (or poorly answered) as with most of the threads I opened so far. Otherwise I'm afraid I'll be forced to just stop contributing. I strongly hope that's not the case.This time is about the webhook events: they do not include the sport type. IMO, this is a key field, mostly for create aspect type.As ourselves, I'm sure there are a lot of people that will need this because their App is just related to a single (or subset of) sport: cycling, running... Not having this field implies a call to the API per event to check whether if the event should be processed or not. This makes the event almost unusable.Hoping for an answer,Thanks.

HiyaWe have noticed users creating strava accounts with temporary email address providersAnd then coming to our appWe cannot detect this behaviour in our app - so would kindly ask Strava to enhance its security on the use of temporary email addresses to create accountsIt would be good in the Athlete API response we could get the users email address also so we can check its domainThanks

Requesting access via Strava app brings invalid redirect_uri

The auth request stopped working. I used to work fine for our app. We didn't change anything in the app config or strava config.This is our url call to start the access request:strava://oauth/mobile/authorize?redirect_uri=ourAppName://stravaAuth&approval_prompt=auto&client_id=the-client-id&state=ios413&scope=activity:write&response_type=code It opens the Strava app but brings a white screen with the error • Invalid redirect URIIs there anything new we missed on the Strava API?

Number of riders on a segment today?

Curious if I had a list of key segments in a trail network if you could use the API to give the number of riders on the segments “today” and possibly the average speed?My idea is to know what winter fat bike trails are running well and have been packed down already. If no one has been on the trail it probably means you should bring snow shoes instead.I can get this data by digging around on the web version but it would be nice not to have to go segment by segment, and possibly have a nice way to present it to the community.

The weather data doesn't make any sense. This is frustrating. How can I solved it?

For example, in my training today, it says the temperature was 23ºC. This temperature doesn't make any sense! The information should be the average temperature during the activity, or the maximum and minimum. I ran with a final sensation of 29ºC, but Strava says it felt like 23ºC. How can I solved it?

GetActivityById doesn't work

Hi, I’m trying to get access to my activities with GetActivityById, but it doesn’t work anymore with the Swagger Playground. I tried it with scope read or readall and I tried different ids. It worked last week but doesn’t work now and I don’t know what's the problem. { "message": "Resource Not Found", "errors": [ { "resource": "Activity", "field": "", "code": "not found" } ]}But I know there are Activities and the Ids are right.Can someone help?
