Hi Strava developers,

I've built a small private web app for myself and a few friends — three of us currently but possibility of it being five of us in total — training together for the Great South Run on 18 October 2026. The app pulls our run telemetry from Strava (activity:read_all scope) so we can share a leaderboard, track each other's training, and run a small team campaign over the 25-week build-up.

I'm hitting the default 1-athlete limit on my application — I've connected, but my squad-mates get the "limit of connected athletes exceeded" error when they try to authorise.

Could I please request an increase to 5 connected athletes?

Quick context for the request:

  • App name: GSR Showdown
  • Client ID: 229579
  • Use case: read-only consumption of our own activities (filtered to Run / TrailRun / VirtualRun) plus per-second streams for HIIT sprint detection
  • Volume: 5–7 activities/week per user → roughly 20 stream calls/week and well within current rate limits
  • Scope: purely personal project, no plans to publish, no commercial intent, no third-party users beyond the three to five of us
  • Athletes: will only ever be myself + two named friends

I emailed developers@strava.com on 23/04/26 but haven't heard back yet — figured the forum might be watched more reliably.

Happy to share screenshots / a demo URL if it helps the review. Thanks for the time.

Cheers, Martin Shirley (Strava: martinjs24)

Hi @Martinjs24, you need to submit your app for a review by the form provided for this purpose, see “Q2: How do I move from the 1 athlete limit to being able to share my app with other users?” on

Please note that currently delays are reported, like on
