Nordic skiing sub-categories

Question

Nordic Skiing consists of multiple different disciplines just like Running and Cycling do. As a minimum we should be able to choose Classic or Freestyle (skate) since there is a 10% to 20% difference is possible speed, different skis, different boots, different poles, different techniques and different wax/ski preparation. To go a step further like has been done in Running and Cycling it could also include Ski Touring and Back County Skiing which are also quite different than Classic and Freestyle which are what we are seeing in the Winter Olympics this week.
