ection 6.1 of the API Policy states:
"Unless your Developer Application has an athlete capacity of 9,999 or less, you may display or disclose to an end user only the specific Strava Data related to that end user. You may not display or disclose Strava Data related to other users, even if such data is publicly viewable on the Strava Platform."
I'm building a coach/athlete training app. Athletes can optionally connect Strava and sync their own activities into their training log. Separately, an athlete can set up a coaching relationship inside the app — with their own explicit consent — so their coach can view their training history (the same access the coach already has to the athlete's manually-logged runs).
My question: does §6.1 restrict showing an athlete's Strava-sourced data to their own coach, when the athlete has explicitly consented to that specific coach seeing it inside the app? Or is the "other users" language here aimed at preventing exposure to unrelated third parties without consent — i.e. does it leave room for a consent-based, in-app relationship like coaching?
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has built a coach/team/group-based app on the Strava API and how you've handled this — or from Strava staff directly. Thanks!
