Hi everyone,
I'm building Meet2Run, a small running-community platform for discovering local running clubs, group runs and other runners.
I'm trying to clarify one specific point in the 2026 Strava API Policy before implementing the Strava integration.
Scenario:
- Meet2Run will initially have fewer than 9,999 athletes.
- A user voluntarily connects their Strava account via OAuth.
- Meet2Run imports that user's activities.
- The activity is private by default.
- The user can then explicitly choose to make an activity visible to other Meet2Run users (followers or public within Meet2Run).
- Meet2Run is not intended to be a Strava replacement and would not provide segments, leaderboards, training plans, AI coaching, etc.
The question is:
Does API Policy §6.1 allow a Developer Application with an athlete capacity of 9,999 or less to display a user's Strava activity data to other users of that same application, provided the activity owner has explicitly consented to that sharing?
The reason I'm asking is that §6.1 appears to say something different from the general restriction that Strava Data provided by a specific user may only be displayed to that user.
I'm not looking for an interpretation of the policy from another developer if Strava has already clarified this somewhere. If there is an official clarification or example covering this situation, I'd really appreciate a link.
Thanks!
