Questions about Strava API access for my app MyBikeTrack

Hello Strava Developer Team,

I am developing MyBikeTrack, a web application that helps cyclists track the mileage of their bikes and individual components.

I would like to integrate the Strava API so users can connect their Strava accounts and selectively import their cycling activities from the last 90 days.

Before subscribing to Strava or creating an API application, I would appreciate clarification on a few points:

  1. Is a Strava subscription required to create and maintain an API application? Would a free trial be sufficient to get started?

  2. If my subscription expires, will my API application and its access continue to work?

  3. Can MyBikeTrack users import their own activities without having a paid Strava subscription themselves?

  4. What are the requirements and application process for obtaining Extended Access, and can a small application apply while it is still growing?

  2. It won’t work anymore, your rate limits will be cut off.
  3. What users in your app can import or not is your decision. If you rather mean whether your app can download activities from non-subscribers via Strava API: It’s possible, you will get fewer stats though.
  4. You have to get near 9999 users and Strava has to very much like your app.
