Hi Strava Team and Community,
I have recently created a club for my cycling group, and we are facing a very frustrating limitation regarding statistics. Currently, the club leaderboard aggregates all cycling activities into a single global ranking under "Cycling".
Since Strava already captures and stores precise metadata for specific sub-sports—such as Mountain Bike (MTB), Road Cycling, and Gravel—the platform already possesses all the data required to offer a much better experience.
I would like to formally request a feature that allows club administrators and members to filter the leaderboard by specific cycling categories.
Why this feature is essential:
- Fair Competition: It is impossible to fairly compare a 50km road ride with a 50km mountain bike ride with technical elevation. Mixing them skews the weekly stats.
- Community Engagement: Many clubs have diverse members who ride different terrains. Forcing us to create multiple separate clubs just to see MTB vs. Road stats ruins the community aspect.
- Data Utilization: The data is already there. Users already tag their rides correctly; Strava just needs to allow us to exploit that data within the club ecosystem.
Implementing a simple dropdown menu on the club leaderboard to filter by sport type (just like we have on our personal activity feeds) would completely transform how groups interact.
