Hello everyone,I'm hoping someone here can tell me what to expect, or whether someone from Strava can give a status. My situation - App: GlideHub, lap times for speed skating training, with optional upload of sessions to Strava - Client ID: 85786 - Platforms: web app (glidehub.nl, live since June 2026) and an iOS app (on the App Store since 29 October 2026) - Request: raise the athlete capacity from 10 to 1000 - Submitted: 8 October 2026, through the Developer Program review form. I received the automatic confirmation the same day ("It's under review, and there's nothing else you need to do for now"). - Follow-up: support ticket #19132 (23 October). The only reply was the automated one: capacity requests aren't reviewed by email. - Result so far: no decision, and no request for more information. Why it matters We have reached the cap of 10 connected athletes. New users, including active skaters who would use the integration every week (or a few times a week), can no longer connect their

It looks like a huge percentage of posts over the past few weeks and months on here are about Strava’s utter silence regarding the Connected Athlete / Rate Limit increases that are going unresolved, and the non-response from developers@strava.com . Perhaps it could be helpful if everyone in this same boat (I’ve been waiting 7 weeks, with no response) to all post here, and we can coordinate a list of all Client IDs and what they’re wanting (Athlete Limit increase, Daily Rate Limit Increase, etc), and provide that to Strava to streamline for their developers (best case), or take it somewhere more visible online to draw attention to this situation (worst case, if things are still up in the air for a while). It’s not the waiting that’s necessarily the issue (although we all want to be able to move forward with our applications) - it’s the complete silence, and not knowing whether it’ll be another week or 6 months before we can expect a response. Right now, this forum is just a flood of peo

Bug Report: Asynchronous Integration Initialization Race Condition on Cold-Start Component: Agent Tool Execution & Runtime Orchestration / MCP Connector Manager1. Title[MCP] Race condition between initial user prompt evaluation and background integration tool-mounting causes premature tool availability refusal.2. DescriptionWhen a user initiates a new conversation thread with a prompt that explicitly declares a dependency on a specialized external integration (e.g., Model Context Protocol connectors like @Strava), the runtime dispatcher evaluates the prompt's intent against the available tool inventory concurrently with the background initialization handshake. If the background tool-mounting and registration process has not completed by the time the first-turn execution pipeline evaluates the prompt, the model treats the dependent tool as unavailable and returns a negative refusal ("I cannot directly access..."). Subsequent identical prompts succeed because the asynchronous bac

Hello guys,I'm developing a personal, non-commercial AI cycling coach in Python that will analyze my own Strava activities.I tried to see if this topic was already adressed, but I didn’t find anything that matched quite enough. Apollogies if I’m re-booting and old subject. I would like to connect directly to Strava's official MCP server at https://mcp.strava.com/mcp.I have successfully found the OAuth authorization server and its client registration endpoint. However, my dynamic client registration attempt returned:invalid_client_metadata – Unable to register clientCould anyone please clarify: Does Strava support custom Python MCP clients, or is access restricted to approved AI assistants such as Claude and Gemini? If custom clients are supported, what are the required OAuth client registration parameters and redirect URI requirements? Is there official documentation for connecting a custom MCP client? I am specifically interested in the MCP integration rather than the standard Str

I am the developer of dameto.sk, a sport-focused dating site built on Joomla. Our application (Client ID 276814, athlete capacity 10/10) lets a member optionally connect their own Strava account. Before we apply for a capacity increase, we would like to confirm that our intended use is allowed under the API Policy of June 1, 2026. We do not want to submit screenshots of a design that Strava would reject. What we want to do:1. A member connects Strava voluntarily (OAuth, with the consent information required by section 2.1).2. From that member's own activities we compute a few coarse values: main sport, a weekly volume band, and typical time of day.3. When two members are shown to each other, we use a simple rule-based formula (no AI or ML) to calculate a single compatibility figure, and show only that figure to the other member. The underlying activities, routes and numbers are never shown to anyone else.4. Optionally, a member can explicitly choose to share a coarse band (for example

We're building a small non-commercial Telegram bot for our running club (~200 members). Each member connects via OAuth (read, activity:read); we verify club membership via /athlete/clubs at connect and daily. New activities are posted to the club's private Telegram group, along with daily/weekly/monthly summaries and a distance leaderboard, all marked "Powered by Strava". No AI, ads, analytics or intermediaries; everything is deleted on disconnect or revoke.Under the June 2026 API Policy we're unsure about four points:1. §2.3 says a user's data may be shown only to that user, but §6.1 applies that limit only to apps with an athlete capacity above 9,999. Can a Standard-tier app show members' activities and a leaderboard to the rest of the club's group?2. §6.2 allows a 7-day cache and otherwise says "you may not store Strava Data". Weekly and monthly summaries need older activities. Is storing activities while the athlete stays connected acceptable, and how do other club/leaderboard apps

Hi Strava team,We submitted the Developer Program review form for AVOS Fitness (Client ID 287189) and haven’t heard back yet. We now have 10 of our 10 athlete slots in use and new athletes are signing up every day, so we’ll soon have to turn people away.Avos Fitness (https://avosfitness.site) is a training log and performance coach for amateur athletes in Spain. Each athlete connects through OAuth and only sees their own data. We follow the API Agreement and Brand Guidelines: «Powered by Strava» on everything shared, no Strava data shown to other users, nothing used for AI training, and deauthorization handled through the webhook.Could you please review our request? Happy to provide anything else you need. Thanks,Manuel Sánchez Rosario

Hi! 😊I have a question about the possibility of introducing a group kilometre-tracking feature within a club. The idea would be to set a shared distance goal with a deadline that could be adjusted if needed. For example, every year we aim to collect 100,000 km together, which we then turn into a financial donation to support charitable foundations. It would be really engaging and motivating if club members could see how their individual kilometres contribute to the overall goal and watch the shared progress grow in real time e.g. 99 878 out of 100 000 (in real time)Do you think it would be possible to introduce a feature like this? We'd absolutely love to see something like this!

Hi,We’re a small Danish company (Epic Efforts, epicefforts.com) that turns an athlete’s own activity into a printed poster or apparel. The athlete connects Strava, picks one of their own activities, designs the print and orders it.We’re on Standard Tier at 10 athletes and submitted the review form in early October, but haven’t heard back. Customers who want to connect are now being turned away, so I’d be grateful if someone could look at our application.A few details that may help the review:Only the connecting athlete’s own data (activity:read_all, profile:read_all). Nothing is written to Strava, nothing is shared between athletes, no AI training. Tokens stay server-side, no refresh tokens are stored, and activity data is cached for at most 15 minutes. The deauthorization webhook is active and deletes everything tied to the athlete. Official “Connect with Strava” button, “Compatible with Strava” and “View on Strava” on the activity. One question I’d like your guidance on: since a conne

Hello Strava Developer Community,We are developing RUNVERSE, a Brazilian running platform that combines GPS activity tracking, running statistics, gamification, and running communities. We currently have a working Strava OAuth integration that allows users to connect their individual accounts and import their activities. We would like clarification about the current API Policy, particularly Sections 5.4, 5.5, 6.2 and 7.4.Our intended feature is to allow each athlete to see their own: Lifetime running distance. Annual running distance. Total number of runs. Total moving time. We would like to display these statistics in the athlete's private RUNVERSE profile and allow the athlete to voluntarily share personal achievement cards on social networks. We do not intend to retain detailed Strava activity records beyond the permitted cache period. Our questions are: Does the current API Policy prohibit permanently storing cumulative lifetime and annual running statistics derived from an athle

Hi, I submitted my app to the Strava API Program on October 9, 2026 and received the automated acknowledgment the same day (it mentioned a 7–10 business day review). It's now been about two weeks with no further response, so I wanted to ask about the status here.App name: TrailMetrics Client ID: 280243 App URL: https://trailmetrics.app/ Requested athlete limit: 5000 (currently limited to 10 and We’ve quite a few on the waiting list.) Scopes: read, activity:read, activity:writeI've also emailed developers@strava.com as a follow-up. Is there anything else I should do, or anyone who can check the review queue? Thanks!

I have a personal Standard Tier app with 1 athlete (me). It syncs my own activities and shows them on my personal fitness site, tankersfitness.com, with the "Powered by Strava" logo and "View on Strava" links. I am the athlete, and I consent to my own data being shown. I read the June 2026 API Policy and cannot tell whether this is allowed. I looked through the existing threads and could not find an answer from Strava. I also emailed developers@strava.com (ticket #19309) and only got an automated reply. What the text says:1. Policy 6.1 begins: "Unless your Developer Application has an athlete capacity of 9,999 or less, you may display or disclose to an end user only the specific Strava Data related to that end user." Read literally, the "only that user" limit applies to apps above 9,999 athletes.2. Policy 2.3 says Strava Data "may be displayed or disclosed in your Developer Application only to that user", with no size condition.3. Policy 5.13 refers to the user's "prior express consent

Good morning, I'm experiencing significant discrepancies between the measurements taken by the Huawei Health app and those published on Strava, specifically regarding open water swimming. In Huawei Health, the distances are correct; however, when Strava tracks them, it seems to double them. At first glance, it appears to take the route (the silhouette) and change the scale, which is why I believe the distance is inflated. Does anyone know what the solution might be? Thanks.

Bonjour a quand dans les étiquettes d'activité, " avec mon chéri/ma chérie" ou. " Mon conjoint/ma conjointe" ou " ma compagne/mon compagnon"????

Has anyone had an issue with Strava lowering their music volume on an iPhone? My music plays normally until I start recording a run, then becomes really quiet. Strangely, it gets louder during Strava’s announcements, then drops again afterwards.Strava support haven’t been able to resolve it so far and are escalating it. Has anyone experienced this and found a fix? Ideally, I’d like to keep the audio announcements on.

I'm part of Team Rynkeby Europa, a non-profit charity cycling team raising funds for children with critical illnesses. We would like to develop a small application that automatically collects cycling distance and elevation gain from our riders' Strava accounts. Each rider would authorize access individually, and only a few team administrators would have access to the statistics. Our goal is to track training progress throughout the season, with custom date ranges, without requiring manual weekly reporting. Before developing the application, we would appreciate clarification on two points: Can we display individual riders' distance and elevation gain to authorized team administrators, with each rider's explicit consent? Can we retain these statistics throughout the season, or would this violate Strava's seven-day caching and data aggregation restrictions? If special permission is required, what is the correct process for requesting it?We are not developing a commercial application, and we

Hello Strava Developer Community,I am developing RUNVERSE, a running platform that includes activity tracking, route exploration, running communities, and gamification. We are reviewing our integration to comply with the Strava API Policy effective June 1, 2026.Previously, RUNVERSE imported running activities through the Strava API and used the activity distance to award experience points (XP), levels, and achievements. These gamification values are stored separately from the original activity records. We have implemented a process to remove cached Strava activity data after the permitted retention period. However, some XP, levels, achievements, and historical XP records awarded from previously imported activities remain associated with users' accounts. We would like clarification on the following questions:1. Derived gamification dataAre XP, levels, and achievement records calculated from Strava activity data considered "Personal Data derived from Strava Data" under Section 7.4 of the cu

Hi Strava team,I submitted a request to increase the athlete capacity for my app on October 8, 2026 (20 days ago) and haven’t received a response yet. Could someone confirm it was received and share the expected timeline?App detailsApp name: Endurance Society Client ID: 256833 Current capacity: 10 athletes (7 currently connected) Requested capacity: 100 athletesAbout the appEndurance Society is a training app for endurance athletes in Mexico (running, cycling, swimming and triathlon). Athletes follow a structured training plan toward a goal race. Each athlete connects their own Strava account through OAuth so their completed activities are matched to their planned workouts, showing actual distance, time, pace and heart rate next to the plan.Data useEach athlete only sees their own data within the app. We do not sell athlete data or make it public. The app follows Strava’s Brand Guidelines and the API Agreement. We’re launching with the Endurance Society athlete community in Mexico and n

Hi Strava Developer Support Team,I would like to request an API rate limit increase for our non-profit community cycling application MADDAness.Application Details:App Name: MADDAness Client ID: 202176 Website: https://www.maddaness.comAbout MADDAness: MADDAness is a grassroots, non-competitive endurance cycling challenge based in Piedmont (Turin, Italy). Cyclists track their historical attempts, certify official edition routes (GPX track matching), and count their cumulative climbs to the Maddalena hill ("Madda Counter").Why we need an increase: As our participant community grows, multiple riders sync their Strava activities around official event dates. Calculating cumulative climbs and matching route tracks requires fetching historical activity lists, which currently exhausts our daily quota of 3,000 requests very quickly.Optimization already implemented: We have designed our backend to be conservative with Strava API calls:Incremental synchronization only: once activities are analyze

I saw that it was saved. somehow it didn't showed up on my activities 😭 I already updated the app. uninstalled it and installed it again. still nothing 😞

Hi everyone,I’m developing an early-stage fitness platform and exploring the Strava API for verifying completed workouts.I’m hoping to better understand the policies around using activity data for third-party incentive programs, where users may earn points or real-world rewards from partnered brands based on verified physical activity. Only thing i’d need from Strava API is to verify the activity and type of activity. Has anyone worked on a similar integration or received guidance from Strava regarding these use cases?I’m particularly interested in understanding any restrictions or approval requirements. Thanks!

Academic research use of the Strava API – longitudinal cohort study (Brazil)Hi everyone,I'm a master's student at a university in Brazil, building a non-commercial app for a prospective cohort study on running-related injuries (up to 200 recreational runners, followed for 52 weeks, with ethics committee approval).Participants connect their own Strava accounts with informed consent. We import only activity summaries (date, type, distance, time, elevation, heart rate) from the connection day onward. We use webhooks, store no maps, GPS data or photos, and make no AI/ML use.Reading the API Policy (June 2026), some points seem to conflict with research use:- the 7-day caching limit (§6.2), while the study needs the data for 52 weeks;- data displayed only to the athlete (§2.3, §5.10), while the research team needs to analyze it with the participant's consent;- restrictions on aggregated analysis (§5.4).Has anyone had an academic or research project approved under the Standard tier? Is there

Hi Strava Developer Community!I'm the founder of TryAthletes, an app that helps athletes create and share custom activity overlays using their Strava data.We submitted our application for an API rate limit increase and Development Tier upgrade 10 days ago, but haven't received any updates yet.Our app is growing steadily, and we're already hitting the current rate limits, which is preventing us from onboarding new users and affecting the experience of existing athletes.I've also tried reaching out to Strava Support, but only received an automated response directing me to the Developer Hub.A couple of questions: What's the typical review time for Development Tier upgrade applications? Is there any way to check the status of a pending application or get in touch with the team responsible? Client ID: 228389We'd really appreciate any guidance. We're excited to keep growing TryAthletes within the Strava ecosystem!

I am developing a web app for me and my friends to compare our data and statistics, as well as make training plans with integrated AI access. My buddy has a membership and we created an API on his account. However it seems to be limited to one person only. We are now wondering wether the upgrade to 10 persons would cost something or not, since after clicking the upgrade button we get asked wether we really want to upgrade.

I'm building an app that shows each runner which streets in their town they've covered over time. A street run two years ago still counts today, so the app needs a runner's whole history. The June 2026 API Policy limits caching to seven days (6.2) and says apps may not store geographic location information beyond that (5.7). How are other street-completion or lifetime-map apps handling this? Specifically:1. Is keeping a runner's GPS tracks while they stay connected, shown only to that runner, within an app's "operational scope" (5.5) and "necessary for the purpose" (6.4)?2. If not, is it acceptable to delete tracks within 7 days of import and keep only the derived result: which street sections the runner has completed, with no Strava coordinates? Each runner only sees their own data; nothing is shared, aggregated or used for AI; everything is deleted when they disconnect. Any experience from developers who've been through review, or guidance from the Strava team, would help a lot. Thanks
