Activity slipped into a parallel universe

Something happened with my walking activity from yesterday. I can’t find it at “my activities”.

I can still see the photo in my gallery and even open and edit the activity from there, but it doesn’t appear in my activity list. It’s like the activity fell into a parallel universe; it exists, but also kind of doesn’t.

The activity is definitely saved somewhere in my account since I can access it through the photo gallery, but for some reason it doesn’t show up in my main activities list or feed. I haven’t deleted it and it’s not hidden. It’s just not showing up where it should. I’m trying to figure out whether this is a syncing bug, a database glitch, or something else.

Maybe good additional information is that something went wrong with the GPS at the end of the activity. No idea if this could be related.

Anyone an idea how I can recover it?

Strava doesn’t have inbuilt options for changing the date, but external tools like the time adjuster in the fit file tools https://www.fitfiletools.com/#/adjuster#view can do that. If you can’t export the activity as fit file from Strava you can export it as gpx, open it in a text editor, use “Replace All” for the wrong date and import the changed file.

The GPS at the end could be related. You can try to crop the bad end of the activity.

Thank you for the reply @Jan_Mantau. I did crop the activity now, unfortunately without any result.

Did you check the date of the activity? In case you mean https://www.strava.com/activities/16658434790 this is dated as 6th of May 2023.

If you can access the activity on the web interface, you can bring the FIT file to https://gotoes.org/strava/fitfileviewer.php see if there are any outstanding errors and https://gotoes.org/strava/Combine_GPX_TCX_FIT_Files.php to remove problematic areas. Or on the other hand it could simply be a DB error as you guessed and could clear up by itself.

Thanks a lot guys, it is like @Jan_Mantau said the activity which is dated as the 6th of May 2023. No idea why it ended up on that date instead of yesterday. Is there any way to change the date of the activity? I can’t find it in both the web interface or mobile app.

Ok, this was the glitchiest thing I’ve ever seen. I had to set it to 28 July 2028 via FitFileTools so that after uploading it, the date showed as 30 November 2025. Then, after cropping 1 second from the start, it suddenly changed to 5 December 2025, which was the actual date.

I still have no clue what happened and it was an interesting puzzle, but it’s fixed now. Thanks for the help!
